Abe's Exoddus Without QuikSave!
I'm trying it atm. Half way through the Necrum Mines. I also only save at checkpoints.
Has anyone else tried this? |
What would be really remarkable is if you went without QuikSaving and dying. :)
:
True, although QuikSaving is something of a security blanket. Take that away and the nerves grow!
:
I really have to try this some time. I compulsively do it every few seconds on some playthroughs.
I've tried it before, but since there IS a QuikSave option, I always end up going for that.
Yeah, that's what I'm like. It's handed to you so you're obliged to use it. Kind of annoying, really.
Interesting idea though, considering most people complain about there being no QuikSaves in Abe's Oddysee.
The lack of QuikSaves in AO drove me mad after getting used to it in AE.
yeah, but there is a video on youtube, an ao walkthrough, and the guy who's using it quicksaves, maybe its just a later version or something.
Link?
ok, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Om1Oa...eature=related he's really annoying though considering he doesnt know how to play the game lol.
In my Abe's Exoddus walkthrough on YouTube I don't think I ever die or use QuikSaves, however I haven't recorded Part 12 yet (Mudomo Vaults to FeeCo). It's something to do with memorising every screen on the game and what it's linked to...
That's not Quiksaving, he's just editing parts out so the video isn't hella long.
no he is, i saw it in a comment, besides, you can tell he is because there is commentary and you can tell it was recorded while he was playing. and if you view the previous video, he destroys a bomb and survives, but still reloads a quicksave, he wouldnt of done that if he was editing.
He's using save states. The exact state of the game is stored in memory by some program or emulator, and injected into the game whenever he wants. It's exactly how QuikSave works.
Also, it's not a walkthrough, it's a Let's Play. |
He's using what I'd assume are save states, as it's the PS1 version.
That video would have been very boring without commentary. EDIT: Max beat me to it. |
:
anyway, how do you get save states? is it a program? |
:
:
If it's the PS1 version, then he's certainly using an emulator to play the game on his PC. Most if not all emulators have save states as part of their functioning. |
Made it to the Fee Co. Depot!
The Weirdos want me to shut down SoulStorm Brewery, but I've gotta save the Mudokons there first! |
Finished the Slig Barracks. Dripik's stage was a little tricky without the aid of QuikSave...onto the Bonewerkz!
Dripik's stage must be a cakewalk compared to Phleg's.
:
Or watch the videos. Since there are no commentaries. I'm not linking it here because I've made a thread already. |
:
EDIT: just finished the Bonewerkz... |
me too, on the psp, i hate phlegs stage, those slogs are annoying, and what are you talking about chubfish?
yea that is true mad with out quiksaves i know I've tryed it lol:fuzwink:
I'm in SoulStorm Brewery atm. This isn't too hard at all.
Oddysee would be far too easy if you could quicksave in it.
not the first time you play it, it seems as long as exoddus the first time you play it, and very hard, i think the hardest part in oddysee is stockyard return (the whole level).
