Sad Abe??

I was playing Abe's Exoddus and all of a sudden abe is saying "Hi" in a depressed voice, like sad Mudokons. Is this supposed to happen?

Sekto Springs 06-26-2010 11:14 AM

Use the Questions and Answers thread...
I think Abe does this if your quarma is low and you've killed too many mudokons.

Holy Sock 06-26-2010 11:25 AM

I only killed 4...

Sekto Springs 06-26-2010 11:30 AM

Then I don't know. Maybe Abe crapped himself.

Chubfish 06-26-2010 11:47 AM

If you have more casualties than rescued, Abe will speak in a depressed tone.

If it is an equal amount of casualties and rescued, Abe will sound normal, being neither cheery nor sad.

If you have more rescued than killed however, Abe will sound more cheery.

I think this only affects the way he greets other mudokons with "Hi", and obviously whether you get the good/bad endings.

Abe's Voice changes depending on how many Mudokons he's saved or killed.

about the same = hello!
Saved more then killed = Hi in a happy sound
Killed more then saved = Hi in a sad sound

Duely noted!

Well! I'm shocked that OWF is still able to educate me.

I truly did not know this until today. Probably time to crack out the AE again. Does this also happen in AO?

Sekto Springs 06-26-2010 06:01 PM

No, the voices in AO are pretty static.

Phylum 06-26-2010 09:06 PM

EDIT: I called out Crashpunk for saying the same thing as Chubfish, but realised their posts were a minute apart.

Here is a video for you lazy schmucks.

Wow, this was news to me too! And I play through AE around once per month. But I do usually try to rescue all mudokons. :goof:

Jeezus. Too much of a good thing.

scrab queen 06-27-2010 08:15 PM

I've actually been aware of the change in voice for a while now, but I didn't know it was connected to the total mudokon count. I thought he was just being moody because I made him start a slapfight suicide deathmatch.

I know! :D

Call me crazy but, yeah... call me crazy. :spin:

I've been playing both AO and AE since I bought it on Steam a coupld of weeks ago....

erwinraaben55 06-28-2010 01:45 PM

I knew this for a loong time, but totally forgot about it. So I was pleased to relearn this last week by playing AE again :D. Only I like HELLO (neutral) better than Hi (happy), so that is only a very short time I can listen to that :(

Only sad thing in AO though, is that when you return at Rupturefarms, your laugh has changed, less funny than before. (hihihi is funnier than ahahuhuh although that sounds happier, its les funny).

Lord Stanley 06-28-2010 02:28 PM

I didn't know the quarma had any effects on Abe's voice. I just thought that was to provide a little bit of change.

Crashpunk 06-28-2010 02:59 PM

I notist the voice changing ever since i first played AE. I'm very suprised some of you didn't know :D

ODDWORLDisTHEbest! 07-06-2010 07:27 AM

yeah me to, but in AO, abe's voice is a bit boring if you know what i mean, it's really dry, nevermind.
