I just heard
 

that my father died last month. I last 'saw' him when I was 1 or something, so I never really cared about him. I have never hate him or something, he was just a formless figure for me. So when I got the message today it quite hit me. And now, couple of hours later I start feeling slightly sad, because I never tried to contact him although I could have anytime. So who was this guy? I dunno. But if anyone of you has a similar kinda relationship to his father or mother, I just want you to know, you really should do the first step. my chance is gone and never will come back. although my situation haven't really changed much.
And I don't know, why I am posting this here, probably not the best place and I don't really know you guys, but I think, this is not important. it's the first time I really miss him

I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost my dad last year and I still miss him loads. I bawled my eyes out about it just today. I was never estranged from him, but if I could have spent much more time with him before it was too late, I would. So I’ll back up your sentiment with: spend time with your loved ones. There are no greater regrets.

That's an awful thing for anyone to go through. I give my condolences to you.
