CoD 2 was the only good one. Both in terms of single player and multi-player. The others were okay excluding any CoD made by treyarch which is just utter shit. If you don't believe me, try CoD 3 on the Wii. It's an abomination.

I want to try CoD 1 online to see if it's any good. I'd also then consider buying CoD:UO. First off, I need to be bothered patching to the latest release and finding an Australian server running default maps.

Black Ops looks snazzy and nazi zombies was gr8 but besides that all a bit meh, like there dragging on the series with more of the same stuff hidden behind new graphics.

I still think CoD4 is the best one for SP/MP.

I agree...the only Call of Duty that I have ever played piously was Call of Duty 4 because it was a fantastic game. I, however, disagree with you on World at War being good...it was ok, at most, the only real selling point for me was Nazi Zombies.

Call of Duty is one of a few good tedious FPS.

But I get really bored of it very easily.

I own World at War and like the other non-Modern Warfare COD games, but MW an overblown sack of shit that is pulling First person shooters into 'realism' which is fucking stupid. Gears of War is kind of doing the same thing, but GoW is so ridiculously over the top and retarded that it's okay.

The fact that they're branching off into more series that are just going to be MW clones is bad fucking news, AND they're pretty much spearheading the whole 'paying for DLC of things that should already be in the game' thing. I should not have to spend forty fucking dollars to play on different Nazi Zombies maps.

Anyway, apart from the Modern Warfare hate I've enjoyed every other CoD game, and World at War managed to be a really intriguing experience, apart from the whole "holy fuck I just got this and now I beat it what the shit" part.

EXACTLY!! The only time FPS games are realistic is when you're playing them online otherwise they're all the same thing "one person single-handedly takes out hundreds of enemies while completing objectives" so I only play FPS games with fantasy elements like: aliens, plasmids, and ridiculous weapons that don't exist in real life. Why does COD insist on masquerading as something it's not? COD is a typical FPS IMO.

EXACTLY!! Modern Warfare single player was a great example of a game that made you feel like you're the main character(s) in you're own action/war movie blockbuster with expolsions everywhere, that was the vibe I got from it :p.
