Oddworld Games
Hi
I have been playing Oddworld on and off since 1998, both AO and AE, however only just now have I really gotten into it properly and I love it! However I have not played any others in the series and have found myself wondering is would I enjoy Munch's Oddysee? My reasons for wondering this are because although it is a follow on of the story, the gaming style is completely different and can imagine a lot of the magic is lost due to it being 3D. Also I was wondering if I could get the other Oddworld games on PC? Thanks Ðefiler |
As to your first question, I haven't played it, but I have heard it's not as good as the first two. I've also heard Stranger's Wrath is brilliant.
Your second question, I am pleased to say, has the answer: soon! Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath are being ported to the PC currently, and will, sometime this year, be available along with the first two in a package called the Oddbox, which you'll be able to buy from Steam and other digital distribution companies. |
MO is worse (different) than AO & AE in terms of gameplay... the plot & humor in previous games are also a bit better.... but it's still Oddworld! If youre a fan you should play it - the game is still good & fun... I played it on Xbox, but I'm going to buy it on Steam Oddbox package later :)

Ok thanks for the feedback guys ^^ well I can't wait for this oddbox package to come out on steam :D I wanted to play MO since it came out on xbox, but I have only ever owned playstations so never could. I wasn't even aware there were more games untill I joined this forum last night and read a number of threads.

If you are buying MO for the Xbox like I did, I would honestly say it's not owrth it unless you buy Strangers Wrath has well.
|
I gather a lot of the wonderful people around here aren't impressed by MO. I personally love it. I would recommend buying it and making your own opinion. :)
|
Yeah I am definitely gonna play it, but I don't own an xbox so will have to wait for the oddbox. Is there anyway I can download the GB and GBA games to my computer?
|
Yes you can use an emulator but I won't link to you unless you PM me because it's sorta illegal I believe
|
I want to play MO because it's Oddworld and because it's Oddworld and because I want to say I have played it and so I can play it again once I've played it.
|
|
oh but you don't get infracted!!!!
|
Everyones used an emulator, it's not that big of a deal
but I wouldn't post links |
You make it sound as if it were such a reasonable thing. IT ISN'T! It's theft! It's morally wrong! I'm deeply offended that you'd accuse me, let alone all of us, of committing such crimes!
|
I loved MO and SW and think it is worth buying an original Xbox for the two, especially MO, it's a lot easier than AO and AE but very satisfying to play. I especially liked possessing the Snoozers and you do get to possess Glukkons again (among other things) which is always fun.
I didn't know about the Oddbox though, it's probably cheaper to just go with that so good call. |
The entire Oddworld franchise made an impact on my life. I probably wouldn't be the person I am today if I never got Abe's Oddysee for X-mas in 1999. I was like 7 years old. My first reaction was "Wow this is scary looking but looks so real!" and today, now that I've rediscovered my copies of Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus, I play it thinking, "This still looks realistic and love the dark storyline!" Sadly, I never got the opportunity to play Munch's Oddysee or Stranger's Wrath cause I sadly got a PS2 the second they said that the new Oddworld games would be on Xbox. Now I have a 360 and want to find those games and play them. I'm currently a Junior in High School and going to be a Senior next year. Because of Oddworld I'm planning on pursuing a career in graphic design, art, and theatre at Kean University. In Odd We Trust...

Amen dude, Oddworld also affected me. After playing Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus, my bro and I instantly knew we were destined to make games for a living (hope so) in the future. We hope to be able to open up our own little game business about 2 years from now, but we're already working on something right now as we speak (type)...
Anyway gd lk with your studies!! |
I hope to one day become an employee of Oddworld Inhabitants when I finish college. But I need to find out where they are now. They used to be near me(somewhere in NJ) according to the manual inside the Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus CD cases. But I don't know if they relocated during the time between their hiatus and slow return to activity. Anyways, I've grown so attached to Oddworld that I made loads of updates to the Oddworld wiki. I want to become an admin on the wiki so I can get some larger updates made to the wiki. Check it out to see the load of changes I made

They were never in New Jersey. They were in San Luis Obispo, California but are now located in Emeryville and unlikely to be hiring any time soon.

IMO, Munch's Oddysee, while different from AO and AE, is an awesome game. Stranger's Wrath on the other hand... while not bad in theory, it just wasn't pulled off well. The bosses were too hard, and everything else (sans one level - the one with the time limit) was too easy.

Now where's that posrep button? |
Well, at least he told him the truth....
|
Munch's Oddysee is a good game, but comparable to the originality and the storyline of the old Oddworld games... it isn't.
Instead of judging it compared to these I try to look at it on its own as an individual game, and I think it was pretty good. I got it for a couple of quid on ebay for the xbox (but it plays fine on my 360). ABM |
MO to me felt like a Oddworld 3D gameplay test.
When OWI make a New 3D Oddworld game, i think they will take the pros and cons of MO to improve. |
