Valve Collectibles Statues
In a new TF2 Blog Update
Valve have announced that they have teamed up with a company called gaming heads to produce a line of Collectibles Valve Statues including TF2, Half-life 2, Portal and Left 4 Dead https://www.gamingheads.com/ The First one is Heavy from TF2 and Pre-orders will start Monday 3rd May and i have every intention to get one. http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/7...headsheavy.jpg so what do you think? :fuzconf: |
Deja vu

I think one or the other; not both.

The Half-Life 2 ones might interest me. The TF2 ones not so much. It's cool they make them but I wouldn't buy one to have it stand on my desk.
|
I want to know how much they are. I'm not buying if there mega expensive..

LOL
![]() https://www.gamingheads.com/index.ph...myphp&Itemid=3 This is fucking stupid. Valve needs to take a step back and realize that their target audience aren't a bunch of Anime/Comic book nerds willing to shell out a shitload of money for a goddamn thanksgiving centerpiece. The kind of Valve fans who WOULD buy TF2/Half Life figures (Read: Most of them) want something small they can set beside their monitor. These things are Twelve inches tall (Scale will be super fun) and completely inarticulate. Oh, and it's not a matter of them being really high quality. The process for making these is actually cheaper than typical injection molding (Like, Transformers and GI Joe), it's because they're exclusives. The twisted Pixel Maquettes (45$, 50$ signed) are three inches shorter than these fucklers and cost 185$ less. Fuck Valve and their faggoty merchandising. By the way, it will cost $4140 to buy both teams. |
That's too expensive. It's not even funny how expensive that is.
|
well that's shit.
|
That's a shame, I wouldn't dream of ever paying over $100 for a figure, and given that these aren't even articulated...
|
Yeah, it's just fucking dumb. Once the company covers the initial production costs we'll probably see smaller, cheaper ones, but still.
|
Are they making a specific, limited number of em?

I converted it into pounds. its roughly £150 :fuzemb: and what don't make sense is I've seen 12" models like that but for £60! now if i find one on Ebay thats cheaper...lol :

Valve has a had a bullshitty merchandising streak for awhile, but it's been in the realm of acceptable to pretty well priced with things like the Companion Cube plush and Headcrab Hat. They're just being greedy. |
Valve does indeed seem to be changed from a company that put their fans first to a company that tries to cover as many projects as possible to earn as much money as possible (Left 4 Dead 2, way to early, way to many bugs).
Episode 3 better be fucking epic if they want to keep their hardcore fans around. |

Fuck Breen. I want to know more about the g-man and how he fits into this entire picture. But we'll prolly not find that out until like, Half-Life 3 Episode 5 or something.
As for why Valve is pulling stuff like this. There is a recession going on and every game company out there is suffering, including the big ones like EA and Ubisoft. Valve has a history of being original and daring in their strategies to survive though. That's how they got where they were in the first place. It could very well be that instead of tuning production down they went "hey, let's just bring out loads of games one after another to keep the money coming in". Afterall they are working on Portal 2, Episode 3, TF2 content, new L4D maps, a new L4D2 map was just released and more than likely they have a (small) team already working on the next Source engine for Half-Life 3. They are doing anything but sitting still atm. |

I didn't say they were working on the game, I said they were working on the ENGINE for Half-Life 3.
Now go away you undesirable troll. |
