Favourite Movie Thread

What is your favourite movie?

I have many movies, old and new, which I like. I just can't seem to pick one as my favourite. I like movies with a long story, like Forrest Gump, and I like movies with lot of action. Political movies are okay sometimes too. Sci-Fi is one of my favourite genres.
The only movies I don't like are those oversweet lovey dovey movies where two teens fall in love. And I hate bad musicals like High School musical etc. (That's just my opinion.)

I can't seem to pick one, but please share what's your favourite movie !

one of those small talk questions - but I love movies

hard to tell - memento is a great one, I demand everyone to see this movie.

and of course mind game, here's the trailer

If you have problems with your life, thats the movie for you.

OANST 04-22-2010 11:15 AM

Speed 2.

scrabface 04-22-2010 11:18 AM

how come Speed 2? towards the first one, I found that the second one was quite lame. Willem Dafoe though is quite cool.

Josh 04-22-2010 11:22 AM

This could possibly have something to do with different people being into different things. Just a hunch...

The second Resident Evil movie and Beetlejuice.

OddjobAbe 04-22-2010 11:24 AM

Deep Throat.

OANST 04-22-2010 11:46 AM

Speed 2 is the finest film ever made. The dialogue was exquisite. The visuals were stupifying. Sandra Bullock's finest hour.

FreshlyFriedOktigi 04-22-2010 11:51 AM

My favorite movies tend to change quite often, but I'm especially infatuated with dark and gritty action or dark and gritty comedies....
and/or based on comic books...
and/or anything that has robots in it XD

Here are some of my personal favorites:
- Hellboy (although it has nothing on the comic, I still enjoy it)
- V for Vendetta
- Napoleon Dynamite (tbh, the reason I love this movie so much is b/c I can relate to it so much)
- District 9
- Labyrinth
- I.Robot
- Kung Fu Hustle
- Ghostbusters

Wings of Fire 04-22-2010 12:04 PM

My favourite movie is North, this is the best movie that Rob Reiner has ever directed ever.

OANST 04-22-2010 12:07 PM

Wait. I really loved You've Got Mail. What a special film.

Wings of Fire 04-22-2010 12:10 PM

All about Home Alone 4.

OANST 04-22-2010 12:14 PM

Sleepless in Seattle. I laughed, I cried, I masturbated.

scrabface 04-22-2010 12:18 PM

Planet of The Apes the origin one with Charlton Heston - that one is a stinker

OANST 04-22-2010 12:29 PM

Did you just call the original Planet of the Apes a stinker? Did you really?

scrabface 04-22-2010 12:38 PM

yeah, but I meant it in a very positive way, like in futurama

Wings of Fire 04-22-2010 12:40 PM

I prefered the remake. Tim Burton at his best.

OANST 04-22-2010 12:41 PM

I will shit in your mouth.

Atm my favorite movie is Blade Runner. It is really one of the greatest movies ever made. Everything about it always leaves in awe tears when I watch it. I can't even begin to explain what's so great about it. I'd spend too much time x_x Oh and the soundtrack rocks too.

I love this scene:

My conclusion from this is that Ridley Scott is just an amazing Director. He's made a lot of great movies.
Oh, and he's going to Direct Alien 5 too :D I'm so excited.

Edit: About the Planet of The Apes discussion, the original Planet of The Apes is the best one no discussion!
Tim Burton just made it into a modern action movie. The original one had a lot of important messages to offer and it was very touching in a way. It creeped me out so much that I had nightmares about it for weeks, but it's still amazing.

Wings of Fire 04-22-2010 01:05 PM

I don't know how either of you can actually think that I liked the remake?

I still don't understand. I don't understand how "stinker" can be a positive term in any context.

OMG reading that and knowing that this comes from a girl, that's just too hot.
You're absolutely right, the last scene is fantastic and brings everything to the point - he could have killed him, but he didn't. it was his own choice.

I remember watching Blade Runner - The Final Cut at the Viennale (movie festival in Vienna) and whoa that was the most amazing film experience in my life. I even did find some music tracks from the movie which are not included in most OST versions, like the bicycle riders harp music.

anyway, in my opinion, this one's the most exciting scene from the movie

sry, but the author did disabled the Embedding.

that's just a huge explosion of sound, light and costumes

Grieva 04-22-2010 02:11 PM

"The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" is very high on my list, "2001: A Space Odyssey", "Planet of the Apes" and "Ben-Hur" too.

I know right? I want to masturbate now.

Leto 04-22-2010 02:23 PM

Very tame and textbook choices there Grieva, how about some Citizen Kane with that?

IDK, I've been too lazy to properly get into film these past few years. So uh, probably The Fifth Element (tits) and The Dark Crystal (pups). Changes month by month.

Ridg3 04-22-2010 02:36 PM

Basic Instinct.

Sekto Springs 04-22-2010 09:06 PM

I don't have a favorite movie. I like alot of different films for different reasons, but I've yet to see that one perfect film.

Sci-Fi

Space- or future-themed Fantasy is often called Science Fiction by the layman. Which do you mean?

Sekto Springs 04-22-2010 10:50 PM

Oh shut up, ench.

Strike Witch 04-23-2010 03:54 AM

Men In Black.
