Gears of War 3, April 2011

Its gonna premiere tonight on Jimmy Fallon. Hopefully they fix the multiplayer to its former glory that was Gears 2.

Hobo 04-12-2010 05:27 PM

Thanks for your high quality opening post

Daxter King 04-12-2010 05:36 PM

Took me an hour to make it up, I appreciate your well thought out comment.

OANST 04-12-2010 06:04 PM

Disgruntled Intern 04-12-2010 06:18 PM

Trailer and info:

:

-Joe Graf will be the lead coder (AKA the dude who did the netcode for Gears 1 and 2)

-Gears 3 will answer most question in Gear 2

-Epic realized how much people loved the shotgun so they will allow users to use the shotgun as much as they want in addition to adding a new sawed-off double barrel shotgun which will be very powerful which gib multiple enemies at once but it'll take longer time to reload and the range is shorter.

-Pendulum lancer, which kicks like a mule when it fires also has a large blade in the end of it.

-Epic is continuing to refine the cover system to make the best in the industry

-New executions while also encouraging player to use it more in multiplayer.

-A new move where if you jump out of cover you can kick enemy in the face

-The immulsion (Energy that powers the planet) transforms creatures to spread out mutations anytime or have effect after they die by turning them into different thing or exploding like the wretches in Gears 1

-18 month later in Gears 3 no one knows where the majority locusts are, so they are dealing with lambent threat

-Karen Traviss will be writing Gears 3

-Anya will be in battle kicking ass with Delta squad

-COG has fallen and everyone is stranded

-Epic will be bringing back old maps that weren't in Gears 2

-Cliff didn't say if there will be a Beta or not but instead kept talking about how they are still supporting Gears 2 with TU

-When asked about lag Cliff said that they're looking into number of things to improve the experience one of them is the region filter and also they want players to play with friends and stick together in a party.

-4 layer Co-op in story mode confirmed

-Some art in the game player will not play with Marcus and Dom but with another squad.

-UE3 will have much better lighting and color depth

-"Its going to be the most fun, Best told story told in Gears universe, Best looking and most refined gears experience to date"

Ugh at Joe Graff still having a job.

Hobo 04-13-2010 04:46 PM

Now that's a post :D

I am psyched for this

Strike Witch 04-13-2010 05:35 PM

:

Karen Traviss will be writing Gears 3
FUCK

Hobo 04-13-2010 05:59 PM

What you mean is

:

-A new move where if you jump out of cover you can kick enemy in the face
FUCK

Strike Witch 04-13-2010 06:37 PM

No, in this case, FUCK is a bad thing. Karen Traviss pisses me off.

Wings of Fire 04-13-2010 06:52 PM

Haha, she writes Star Wars fanfiction EU books.

Daxter King 04-13-2010 07:29 PM

I couldn't get pass the excerpt for Jacinto's Remains, she is a terrible writer. A good summary of her work would be, "Dicks Everywhere"

Strike Witch 04-13-2010 07:37 PM

She basically has a hard-on for warrior-groups. Be it Mandalorians, Clone Troopers, Gears, hell, she probably digs Elite from Halo too. She just gushes like a fucking fountain over those guys.

Disgruntled Intern 04-13-2010 09:42 PM

Well Gears is shit anyway. Hopefully this will make Cliff B. fuck off permanently. I can't stand that horse toothed prick

Daxter King 04-14-2010 04:20 PM

My first post was a typo, I meant to say Gears 1. Anyways, I was thinking about how terrible Gears 2 multi is compared to 1, and what things it was missing. I realized the most important thing it was missing was fear. Playing Gears 1 was sometimes like a survival horror online game. When all of your team dies and your the last one left on Mansion, you creep around, waiting for the other guy to pop out at you. You might seem him run or see something in the corner of your eye, and that makes you think what to do next. its something that I haven't seen in any other online games, and I hope its something they make prominent in Gears 3.

I hated the single player for Gears 1, but I'll be damned if I didn't play the multiplayer for about four hours a night, every night for a year. I fucking loved that shit. I've never found the multiplayer game that I've enjoyed that much since.

Yep, sometimes I wish Gears 2 had never released, just so Gears 1 would have more players. When I get my 360 fixed it'll probably be the first thing I play, since I've been itching for it. It was also probably my best multiplayer game as far as skill is concerned, I raped in that game. Gears 2 multiplayer is utter shit though, they some how got rid of all the magic in Gears 1. Horde and campaign are good though.

OANST 04-15-2010 04:38 PM

I forgot that we used to play that together quite a bit. You would always irritate my normal group until the leader would finally kick you. Then you'd pop back in, and we would all team kill for a while. Them was good times.

Daxter King 04-15-2010 04:58 PM

Gears is where the majority of my friend list comes from outside of IRL people. I still remember my regulars, and their clan antics. I remember chainsawing someone so many times, he had a reflex to say "God Damnit Nightmare!" whenever chainsawed, even when I was on his team. I remember learning to use the pistol, and choosing it over shotgun henceforth. Damn Im a nerd.

I remember some people who we mutually got along with.

OANST 04-15-2010 05:06 PM

I was nerdy enough to have a clan at one point. We were called the PrairieDoggers. We chose this name because this guy that we would play with occasionally would constantly bitch about me "prairie dogging" him, which was what he called me running straight at him, stopping right in front of him, and shooting him in the face with the shotgun.

Daxter King 04-15-2010 05:12 PM

God damned PrairieDoggers.

OANST 04-15-2010 05:13 PM

Totally. Imagine my dismay when Lancer stopping power made the move almost impossible to pull off in 2.

Daxter King 04-15-2010 05:16 PM

Or the fact that the shotgun seems to shoot around your foe, as opposed to into him.

Fartuess 04-16-2010 02:01 PM

heh. I'm still waiting for PC version of GoW2 :P. I know - it's stupid :)

Daxter King 04-16-2010 02:31 PM

Mostly because it isn't going to happen.

Fartuess 04-24-2010 07:29 AM

Yup... Micro$oft policy :/

Bullet Magnet 05-07-2010 05:12 AM

I've been wondering whether immulsion isn't some sort of living organism. That might explain it's ludicrous mutagenic effects on locust species and the reason for the locust's attack on humanity: the immulsion is defending itself from humanity and, in a stunning feat of logical acrobatics that only a brainless goo could be capable of, has done so by attacking its locust neighbours, driving them to the surface and creating the lambent.

Daxter King 07-21-2010 02:21 PM

Though I'd bump this since some new info came out. The third Carmine seems to want to avenge his fallen brothers.

Anyways, you get to decide his fate. Starting June 29, you can purchase a Save Carmine avatar shirt or Carmine Must Die shirt. The proceeds go to charity, so there is another reason to buy a shirt.

Fans to Decide the Fate of Carmine in Gears of War 3

Place your vote for the fate of the newest Carmine brother through the purchase of avatar gear on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, with benefits going to charity

The fate of Carmine lies in your hands! For the first time in franchise history, Epic Games and Microsoft are giving fans the chance to decide the fate of a character in Gears of War 3. By purchasing avatar gear on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, fans and gaming communities around the globe will decide the destiny of the newest Carmine brother set to appear in Gears of War 3, with all the proceeds going to the Child’s Play Charity.

Keeping with the series’ tradition, Clayton Carmine will be introduced in the trilogy’s final chapter, and like Anthony and Ben, the newest rookie brother runs the high risk of meeting an early death. However, unlike in the previous games, the Xbox community will choose whether Carmine lives or dies by purchasing special Gears of War 3 avatar gear on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Starting July 29, two new avatar t-shirts will be available on the Avatar Marketplace on Xbox LIVE—one shirt reads “Save Carmine,” and the other reads “Carmine Must Die.” By purchasing the “Save Carmine” shirt, you’re casting your vote to let Carmine live in Gears of War 3. Conversely, purchasing the “Carmine Must Die” shirt means you want to see Clayton follow the fate of his brothers.

Fans attending Comic-Con International in San Diego this week will also be able to cast their votes early by purchasing real-life limited edition “Save Carmine” or “Carmine Must Die” t-shirts at the NECA booth (#3145) for $20.00. Gears fans can also visit the Xbox 360 booth (#5153) to be among the first to play Gears of War 3 Beast mode throughout the show. Finally, the team from Epic Games, including design director Cliff Bleszinski, executive producer Rod Fergusson, and lead writer Karen Traviss, will be signing Comic-Con–exclusive posters at the Xbox booth on Saturday, July 24, at noon PDT.

Child’s Play is a community-based games industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children around the world. Through their network of more than 60 hospitals and through the generosity of their community of donors, Child’s Play raises millions of dollars each year to donate games, consoles, and toys to sick children. The proceeds from the sales of the “Save Carmine” and “Carmine Must Die” avatar gear and limited edition NECA t-shirts will go to Child’s Play, so cast your vote, donate to charity, and get cool Gears of War gear! Fans can get up-to-date information about the fate of Clayton Carmine by visiting www.gearsofwar.com.

Published by Microsoft Game Studios and developed by Epic Games, the Gears of War franchise has won over 30 “Game of the Year” awards, sold more than 12 million copies worldwide, and redefined the third-person shooter genre for this console generation. The Gears of War series is exclusive to Xbox 360, and its riveting multiplayer action makes it one of the most popular titles on Xbox LIVE. The trilogy finale, Gears of War 3, will release on April 5, 2011, only on Xbox 360.

What are you? Their press agent?

Daxter King 07-21-2010 02:48 PM

Somehow I though a post like that would occur. The easiest way to explain it is just to quote the press release.
