The Real Vykkers Labs

The other day I was watching a documentary about the ethics of scientific research. They documented one case about a doctor who successfully transplanted the head of a monkey onto the body of another monkey. The footage was extremely graphic, very disturbing. Once they had transplanted head¹ onto body² they attached head² to some sustaining tubes so that both of the heads were being kept alive by body². Head¹ regained consciousness, but could not move because it's impossible to connect all the nerves that would allow him to use his "new" body. They knew the monkey was conscious because its eyes were following the scientists around the room. Head² was being sustained by the same body, but it was sitting above in full view of the conscious monkey. The look on the monkeys face was one of shock, horror and hysteria. It was terrified of the shocking surroundings. They kept the monkey alive for one week before terminating it. Imagine what the monkey's last days on earth were like. Can you imagine yourself in his position?

Here's a photo from the actual experiment, before the monkey regained consciousness. The pictures are graphic, so turn back now if you're sensitive before scrolling down:

It was absolutely shocking.

And here are some other pictures of animal experimentation. The cat pictures remind me of Munch, because of the ports attached to their heads:

Is than an electric brain? I pity the cats. They look like the are in real pain. That's animal cruelty! *sob* Lucky there is no blood dripping out.

PinkHaired Mudokon CWR 08-10-2001 11:22 PM

Yeah, we can't do anything about it because the world is like that sometimes. They either do that for there culture, religious, experiment. ect.

Wil 08-11-2001 02:43 PM

I'm not trying to get on your nerves, Sydney, but you could have left a space between 'here are some disturbing pictures' and pictures themselves.

Gluk Schmuck 08-11-2001 03:30 PM

i think humans who volunteer should be used, not animals...

Alector 08-11-2001 04:47 PM

I also saw this on the TV, that's horrible what they do with the poor animals!!! They have to stop this crap!!!
I'm really mad now! I can't say what i feel now!!! I'll call the PETA campaign tomorrow! I swear, i will do all things i can to help the campaign!

...the poor monkey... http://www.peta.de/cmp/exptop.jpg you can see his pain :(
This must have an End! What would the peoples say when an animal make testings on a human???!!!

http://home.datacomm.ch/hb9ecv/Tierv...e/MouseRDS.GIF

Wish me luck that i can call the people and help with the campaign, it's so easy...but nobody have the courage to DO this and help them!!!

Alector 08-11-2001 04:51 PM

I found a pic where a rat enjoy it to torment a human: http://home.datacomm.ch/hb9ecv/Tierversuche/Juesp.GIF

animals do tests on humans on Planet of the Apes...

those pics are horibble - i never want to see them again...i also don't want that to happen anymore...

Sydney 08-11-2001 11:41 PM

I'm sorry Max the Mug! I'll edit my post to prevent anyone else who wanders into the thread from seeing the pictures if they'd rather not.

Wil 08-12-2001 06:59 AM

Thanks, Sydney.

Personally, I don't mind animal testing... it's animal cruelty that really bugs me. After all, if animals weren't tested on, I would never have been born!

Gluk Schmuck 08-12-2001 07:22 AM

are you a mix between a squid and a gorilla created for an entertainment show?
or are you a test-tube person?

Wil 08-12-2001 07:27 AM

Er no, think along the lines of 'disease that would have killed me unless I had medicine which was researched on animals'. It's much more feasable.

Gluk Schmuck 08-12-2001 07:37 AM

test tube baby is also feasable...y'know, like IVF...
ok, maybe the squirilla was a little un-realistic...

awwww...poor you...which disease?

In witch country is this association ???
Great idee Alector...

Alector 08-12-2001 05:15 PM

It's a number in germany, it's a big german campaign against animals testings...if you want to call it, just type 0049/ 069/ 51 94 11...

Ronixis 08-12-2001 05:37 PM

Animal testing is okay, but as for animal cruelty, I think that it's best off not being done. I just don't understand why that one-eyed monkey had to have had that done to him, but if a animal is going to die anyway (cancer, etc.) a few LIGHTHEARTED surgical tests that aren't so cruel would be so much more wholesome. I hate cruelty to animals, the 'lil buggers are just so cute.

Sexy Slig 08-13-2001 11:51 AM

So you all think animal testings all right? But not animal cruelty? what kind of dumbass logic is that?

Zoolag 08-13-2001 02:41 PM

Animal testing is were the animals are kept in good conditions. Treated well and fed throughly. Animal cruelty is were the animals are kept in shabby conditions, beaten and raped by very large penised gorilla's. Yes...i know...its a shock, but its true...its the sad truth of animal cruelty. But seriously, animal testing can be good so long as the animals are kept in the correct conditions and they dont have any gorilla's going near them. But the law may be changing in like 100 yrs from now cos they are thinking of putting convicts who will be on death row in animal testing labs to get better results with cures etc etc. And possibly even paedophiles...BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA...let the gorilla's loose...MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Ronixis 08-13-2001 04:11 PM

Thanx for supporting me... But you're weeeeeird...

Dakkan Blackblade 08-13-2001 11:10 PM

That's pretty crazy

Joe the Intern 08-13-2001 11:46 PM

AAAAAARRGGGGHHHH!!! it makes me really pissed off to see animals in that much pain   i dont even see the point in putting electrical ports into an animals brain! stupid stupid stupid STUPID STUPID!!!!
that kind of testing should be illegal!

RoN_Rancor 08-14-2001 01:30 AM

Why the -CENSORED- would they transplant the head of one monkey onto another body?????!!! What is the point???!!!!! I can understand that testing is needed to make sure products are safe for humans, but why the -CENSORED- would we need to transplant heads? Are we going to start transplanting human heads??? What's the point!!???

PinkHaired Mudokon CWR 08-14-2001 12:26 PM

it's weird, sometimes animals can't feel that kind of pain as much as we can. Just like they can't feel that much pain when they are giving birth. Weird.

I can see testing for a product but not like this, tis picture scared my nephew.

TheBlueScrab 08-14-2001 12:54 PM
