Screen recording?

In the near future, me and my friend are to start a Let's play series but we can't find any good softwear and Hardwear.

does anybody know any good Softwear that recordeds the screen in perfect condition? I've heard of a screen capture device but I don't know how anything about.

And also I want to know what's the best microphone?

Fraps and anything that isn't from a dollar store.

Crashpunk 02-25-2010 07:34 AM

Thanks for that Nate really helpful...

Grieva 02-25-2010 08:44 AM

Fraps is the best I've used for both video and audio, CamStudio is free and very good if you use it's lossless codec, but I had end tasks like explorer and others to get a consistently good frame rate

What are you planning to do that will make this "Let's Play.." different from the others already on youtube?

We're making Let's Play Crash Bandicoot then Let's Play Abe's Oddysee nothing special really.

do you know any Screen capture devices that are used with the TV with consoles playing?

Grieva 02-25-2010 09:22 AM

Don't know about recording from the TV, but both games are easily emulatable using epsxe or any other PSX emulator, which I'd expect to give you the best results

You took the words right out of my mouth.

That explains why my hands covered in drooooool, eww

Crashpunk 02-27-2010 02:39 AM

How do you make fraps record the sound perfectly?

AlienMagi 02-27-2010 09:30 AM

Fraps should record the video and sound both perfectly and record a video up to the size of 2 gigabytes, and you can use windows movie maker (not recommended) or sony vegas (recommended) to edit the quality, size, transitions and stuff like that.

Good luck

Crashpunk 02-28-2010 12:48 PM

I fixed it, don't worry. Now onto the Recording my TV.

I found somthing on amazon that might be able to record but i'm not so sure. http://www.amazon.co.uk/EasyCap-Vide...outThisProduct
What do you guys think

Grieva 02-28-2010 02:17 PM

The price is right, but theres a lot of negative reviews and it has no win7 support.

It sounds like IF it works it works well, but thats a big 'if'

Crashpunk 03-09-2010 02:12 PM

£7.00 isn't too much compaired to a DVD recorder. So I don't mind the IF.
