How fast can you complete The Boardroom?

My record is 31 seconds. To prove it, I have made a video of it on YouTube:

Enjoy! How fast are you?

OddjobAbe 02-21-2010 12:39 PM

Not very.

Jango 02-21-2010 12:50 PM

Neither could I when I did it for the first time. Anyone can beat my time if they played the area through over a hundred times like I did. ;) Give it a go!

Grieva 02-21-2010 02:24 PM

20 seconds when I tried just now, I expect fastability could beat that

skillya_glowi 02-21-2010 03:00 PM

I just tried and got 39 seconds, I must be losing my touch :/

Grieva 02-21-2010 04:46 PM

Recorded my time, there's room for improvement but its ok

Jango 02-22-2010 06:49 AM

Room for improvement?

Yeah nice glitching, do it for real next time! :P

Anyone can do it in ten seconds using cheats...

MeechMunchie 02-22-2010 07:50 AM

Glitching is legitimate in speedrunning. The idea is to use 'every trick in the book'. External cheats is where the line is drawn between a Speedrun and a TAS.

Jango 02-22-2010 08:22 AM

Ok, I didn't know that. So I guess that using the TAB cheat on the PC version would not be allowed, am I right?

I always thought that speedruns had to be done in the way you should do the level (despite that I didn't save the last Mudokon, but I didn't see that as a glitch). But if you need to go by 'every trick in the book' then Grieva holds the record. Well done! :)

Well, each to his own. Permitting glitching is just the widely accepted stance. Being able to do it properly very fast is still an achivement. And one that uses -ddcheat is still a speedrun, it just fits into a different catergory - Tool Assisted Speedruns.

Grieva 02-22-2010 10:02 AM

Managed to shave a fraction of a second off using your route, so the clock read 1:29 when the lever was pulled

Jango 02-22-2010 10:24 AM

Doing it properly? Well done if so.

I would like to see you do a video of it. :)

I see, so my speedrun would come under a different category to Grieva's speedrun. :P

MeechMunchie 02-22-2010 10:31 AM

I suppose. Wasn't really what I meant, but yeah. It's a bit like weight divisions for boxing. You've got the lightweights (Tool Assisted) then the middleweights (Vanilla) then the hardcore heavyweights (Glitching, exploiting, shortcutting).

Grieva 02-22-2010 10:39 AM

Well, doing it properly would be saving the Mudokon, being able to pull the lever without killing the Glukkons is a bug, but I didn't use fusionbly's edge glitch

I can up the vid 2moro tho

Jango 02-22-2010 10:43 AM

Can you do commentary too? If so, then it would be great. ;)

Grieva 02-22-2010 10:45 AM

It's exactly the same as yours, just a fraction of a second faster, I could put your commentary over it :p

Alf Shall Rise 02-22-2010 06:52 PM

I'm not going to try right now, but last time I played AO, I completed the boardroom in about 2 or 3 minutes. I'm slow compared to the rest of you. :p

Grieva 02-22-2010 11:51 PM

AO Boardroom in under 32 seconds

Jango 02-24-2010 07:47 AM

Nice, pretty much the same as mine as you said, but a second faster. :)

Crashpunk 02-24-2010 11:39 AM

I take it slooow. don't wanna die :D

marlz 02-28-2010 09:15 PM

52 seconds... and then the game froze (o_O)... so does it still count?

wow wtf is that bug? I can't see that guys video? Seems really werid

Lord Stanley 03-02-2010 02:35 AM

The first time I beat the Boardroom, I had only 2 seconds left. This most recent time I did it, it was in 37 seconds.

Fargin Icehole 03-11-2010 10:46 PM

What board room? You mean there's a board room? ;)

Phylum 03-11-2010 11:08 PM

The Boiler?

MeechMunchie 03-11-2010 11:38 PM

The Boiler!

BOI-LAH!

Lacy Hemsmire 03-12-2010 05:24 AM

OH NO not the BIRDIE BOILAAAAH. ...ahem.

I can complete the Boardroom (last time I checked) in about a minute and twenty, thirty seconds or so. I don't play mine on the computer, so I have no access to glitches. I'm a lot faster than I was when I first started. Compared to you I'm ridiculously slow. :3
