Your local
Everyone post pictures of their local pub/bar/boozehole/anti-liver clinic. Obviously you may have more than one in your area, so just post your local. The pub you go to.
Mine is The Brown Jug, a friendly little place. They repainted recently - used to be brown - but I'm more upset that they changed the sign. They used to have a jolly bearded man with a pitcher of ale. He looked a bit like Disgruntled Intern. http://www.wadworth.co.uk/images/pub...54/large/1.jpg |

Glasgow University Union, there are many many trophies inside. |
I often visit here, as it is close to where I visit my Mam:
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...rmsLS185AT.jpg I live quite a few miles away from it, but that's nothing in the car. It's just a fucker when we have to walk back. When I'm up in the lakes, I often visit the Wasdale Inn: http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...e-Head-Inn.jpg I witnessed a very humourous verbal fight between the landlord and a drunken oaf once. If you ever go, I would recommend Yewbarrow ale. Lovely stuff. It was on my walk up the mountain itself that I realised my appreciation of sheep shit. Its smell really is all part of the Lake District experience. |
The Doctor Johnson. my official local would actually be The White Hart/Anglesey seeing as its closer, but its always dead so i don't bother, and no one knows me in there.
http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/images/d...3c723d.jpg?w=2 wooden panels, old pictures (bolted to the walls) and generally quite traditional. nice place where all the locals go, including the non-troublemaker youths as well as the regular old chaps. the landlord doesn't take cheek, either. which is good. i've got pictures of the inside, but there's stupid stuff in them as well, so i'm not gonna bother. for some reason someone left a review on it saying the 'decor' was bland. i didn't know you went into a pub to appreciate the walls. also; Speckled Hen/Pedigree. also regular the George & Dragon. lovely little place, but fucking cramped as hell. no one but regulars go in because of this, as it can seem a bit hostile when walking in and not knowing who anyone is. most people walk in, everyone looks, and they walk out again. because of this, its a dying pub with only one member of staff (money shortage), and he's the landlord. its a shame. http://cdn.trustedplaces.com/i/uploa...663a11.480.jpg used to go to The Plough seeing as it was closer to my work. bit expensive, though. http://mw2.google.com/mw-panoramio/p...m/23561681.jpg and this place is a shit hole. http://base.googlehosted.com/base_me...g&size=4&hl=en :
jesus this post is long. |
The Grindstone.
![]() We're less than two minutes' stroll away, and it's great. But since the start of this year it's been absolutely deserted and has already changed hands three times. More regularly, after swing dance every Tuesday we used to go to The University Arms. ![]() Which isn't filled with revelling undergrads, but postgrads and lecturers. Bit stuffy, and always cramped, and since they decided to make it even more cramped by moving quiz night to Tuesdays we've sought alternative afterclass drinking at the union's continental cafebar, Interval. ![]() |
The Man of Kent.

All these pubs look awesome, from an architectural point of view. Almost makes me want to move to the UK and take up drinking.

The Adelphi is the pub I go to with all of my Japanese course friends. The glimse of the orange '60s building in the background is the Languages building so it's just handy after lectures. http://b9.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/0...47180459_l.jpg Source is the SU, and is the place I go with other friends and flatmates. - Rexy |
None of these are my "local". I dislike the pubs geographically near where I live, so I mostly venture out with friends to their locals.
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1265585420 This is the Toxteth Hotel. They do lovely pub grub which is well worth the somewhat expensive price. This is my most frequented pub. http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1265585420 This is the Bank Hotel in Newtown. I'm an on and off regular. Used to visit it a low more a few years back when one of my best friends lived around the corner. It's known for its homosexual clientele. http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1265585420 This is Star City Casino, another regular. We go there when we're poor for the inexpensive good tasting food and booze. Oh, and to gamble a little. On Good Friday it is the only licenced venue allowed to server alcohol - it gets packed. http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1265585420 This would have to be the seediest and sleaziest pub/club in all of Sydney. Completely gay, you go there to dance, fuck in the toilets, and get kicked out :D Alcar... |

I'm not allowed to go to pubs. And anyway, the nearest pub is about 25 kilometres away, and probably sucks anyway.
