Train Thread
Yes, a thread about locomotives, rail transport, and everything related.
I have a question: When it comes to railway signalling, I've sometimes seen a blue light which is on the ground in between tracks. What does that indicate exactly? I can't find a pic of it, but I'm fairly sure I've seen it before, in two different countries. Also, who else thinks that the old diesel locomotives are some of the meanest-looking machines ever built? |
I thought we were going to run on a train on someone, you got my hopes up.
I actually have pretty much no opinion on trains whatsoever. Sorry. |
Most people don't. I don't care that much for them but I can't find any info on that blue light. I need to know what it does, it's driving me insane.
|
Trains are shit.

Max has disabled reputation? Nate?
i used to love trains when i was younger. and i still like the look of the diesel trains, so yes on that. |
Diesel trains look great. Shame they go on rails though. If they could fly that'd be the best transport in the world. Or at least when it came to interior quality. I always found trains much better furnished than planes and cars. And more elbow-room. Not too sure what environmentalists would say about flying diesel trains though...

I thought this was a thread about running a train on a girl. Boy, was I disappointed.
|
:
The only blue lights for train tracks I can think of is the ones that they have in the Japanese stations. Apparently they are to reduce the rate of suicides by making people stop and reflect... ...witchcraft. |
I like trains. I think they're the best way to get to London from Gloucestershire, anyway. Comfy.
|
All this and no mention of Peppercorn A1 Tornado?
|
we're talking about trains, not condiments.
kids these days. tsk. |
:
Yeah! |
:
Is there a reason trains still run on diesel instead of electricity over there? |
Do we even have diesel trains over here? What the fuck are all the power cables for then?
|
Oh Havoc.
Oh ho ho Havoc. |

Its because were all from the 19th century, we always wear bowler hats and say "spiffing" and our policemen all walk around saying "'Ello 'Ello 'Ello, Whats all this then?"
|
that's it! that's exactly what it is!
and every single working class man wears a ragged flat cap. |

As do our people. |

I FUCKING KNEW IT! In Canada, Train rides you! Wait, that's not right. Fucking stereotypes. |
This thread has made me lose my TRAIN of thought.
how amazing was that? |
This thread has been DERAILED.

I love trains. My favorite is the Mallard which I frequently visit at the National Railway Museum in York. I really like the Deltic Prototype (DP1), so I was really sad when they moved it to the other museum. I keep meaning to get directions. Luckily, they still have the Chinese train, and a rather recent addition is the Duchess of Hamilton, which was taken out for a while. They still have the Flying Scotsman (which I have been lucky enough to be pulled by twice). I wish they had more A4s, but their only A4 is the Mallard.
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/dscf0032.jpg Exactly where I used to visit the Deltic. It was in this spot in the '90s and early '00s before it was moved. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/dscf0030.jpg The Chinese train, which is one of my favorites. Next to it, you'll notice the DP1. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...dscf0002-1.jpg This is the fucking best. |
I think this thread was a mis-CARRIAGE from the start
|
Oddjob ruined train thread by talking about trains.
|
But I fucking love trains.
|
I'm sure there is some freudian theory on the love of big phallus shaped objects which drive into gaping holes.
|
I'm glad that my phallus is not as flat as the DP1.
