Getting off or Snogging?

Me and a friend were having this arguement eariler. He was saying how he 'got off' with all these girls at a party when I piped up and commented on the fact that getting off with someone means having sex or taking pleasure (usually sexually) in somthing.

Needless to say this started a minor arguement on the use of "getting off" in that context, which only resolved itself when I had to use urbandictionary to look up the defination.

But now I have noticed that nearly everyone where I live uses the phrase "getting off" in supposedly the wrong way.

Anyway my point being is that where you live, do you use Getting off or Snogging (or even somthing entirely different)?

Sekto Springs 01-17-2010 12:35 PM

I use the term 'getting off' universally for anything that gives one satisfaction.
In the sexual sense, 'getting off' is ejaculation/orgasm.

I remember watching Terminator 3 for the first time and feeling highly disturbed upon learning the Connors had gotten off together in a garage at the age of twelve.

Laser 01-17-2010 12:43 PM

Dammit, now I don't know which you mean :tard:

Wings of Fire 01-17-2010 12:48 PM

It was years later til I learnt that 'getting off' and 'making out' mean snogging with a slight bit of ameteur doctoring.

OddjobAbe 01-17-2010 12:49 PM

We tend to call it cafoodling over here.

Now that is the best word for it ever.

"Dude I cafoodled so many girls at this party last night"

Win.

OddjobAbe 01-17-2010 01:03 PM

It is an incredibly fantastic euphemism. That and "dickory-docked".

Alcar 01-17-2010 01:22 PM

Getting off = Orgasm
Hooking up = Kissing

I did both last night. In a park :tard:

What the fuck is wrong with you?

Explain your post by this time tomorrow, while I think of a sliding scale of punishments depending on how good your answer is.

I don't actually want to know

In my neck of the woods, we have a variety of terms for sex. Whilst we refer snogging as "Getting into".

We're weird fuckers in Brizzie.

Too bad.

It involved penii.

Alcar...

OddjobAbe 01-17-2010 02:14 PM

I read that as "pencil".

Nate 01-17-2010 02:50 PM

Pretty much the same for me as Alcar. I mean, the terminology thing. Not the park-based social activities.

The term that has always confused me was 'with', as in "So I was drunk at that party and was with that horrible redhead guy". Insofar as I've been able to tell, it actually can mean both kissing and sexing and at times the term will be used specifically when ambiguity is desired.

Sekto Springs 01-17-2010 02:52 PM

"Hooking up" in the US generally refers to casual sex. A hook-up being someone you're not necessarily involved with, but are mounting them all the same.

Bahahahaha. Shenanigans.

Pilot 01-17-2010 03:28 PM

Oh hey look who's back.

Taco 01-17-2010 11:01 PM

With the people I hang out with:
getting off = jacking/wanking
snogging = not used at all
hooking up = shoving your tongue down someone's throat

EDIT: oh and we also use the base system a fair bit

Leto 01-17-2010 11:03 PM

what a stupid thread/keep it to the sex thread.

looney-bin 01-17-2010 11:09 PM

What about crying myself to sleep? What does that count as?

Leto 01-17-2010 11:14 PM

it depends whether or not you are crying yourself to sleep in a sleepingbag or not

Taco 01-17-2010 11:15 PM

That depends, do you wank before, during or after? Wanking always makes me feel better when I'm blue. :)

EDIT: oh and we also use the base system a fair bit

Maybe this deserves its own thread, but can you explain to me what each of the bases is meant to represent? No-one I've ever asked can agree on what they are.

Taco 01-17-2010 11:36 PM

What we've generally agreed on within my group of friends is:

First Base-making out/french kiss
Second Base- Handjob/Fingering/Dry sex
Third Base- Head/Eating out
Fourth Base- (Home base) intercourse. Anal is sometime refered to as fifth base

I wonder if anyone uses a cricket number-of-runs system?

Ridg3 01-18-2010 03:08 AM

Being lonely...

Where I live we used "went with" someone for example, "Dddduuuuuudddddeee, I went with some hot doll last night." And we have a variety of sayings for having sex like tanking, banging, nailing and destroying...it's kinda like D.I.Y warfare.

OddjobAbe 01-18-2010 07:47 AM

How about fumigating, anodising or ducting?

MeechMunchie 01-18-2010 07:53 AM

Hanky-panky and knoodling. The 'k' is not silent, it's pronounced k'noodling. My butler will stand by me with that while he polishes my monocle. Obviously I could list hundreds of suggestive words, but that's not really what the thread's about. Look at me, Mr. Spam-conscious.

Oddey 01-18-2010 08:06 AM

I don't really call it anything except for kissing. Or the joinging of lips if I want to sound clever.

As for intercourse and such, I just tend to say all kinds of words that are usually followed by "if you know what I mean." I generally avoid this whole talking about romantic things, because I get the feeling that people will accuse me of being perverted if I do. Pretty stereotypical.

It kind of surprises me that this is even a thread.

Fuck that.
My god does the dating scene suck.

Wings of Fire 01-18-2010 09:02 AM

Eating out sounds so vulgar.
