Little Baby Cheeses

MOD EDIT: Thread split off fromage here.

Oddjob: blue cheese. now that is the food of kings. especially on those Hovis biscuit things that taste like digestives.

Blue Cheese is so good. It also has the incredibly practical and non-awasteful use of smelling really strong when put in a microwave.

I just had an orange. WHAT A GOOD LUNCH.

MeechMunchie 01-12-2010 11:08 AM

Roule or Boursain are good cheeses. And Wensleydale. And Emmental. And Double Gloucester. And Edam. I'm from Gloucestershire, have you noticed?

Josh 01-12-2010 11:10 AM

The best cheese in THE WORLD is Smoked Applewood. Blue Cheese is not tasty at all.

I have just eaten a bag of crisps. OMNOMNOM.

Have you ever eaten Parmigiano Reggiano?

Your opinion I disapprove of, you fuck.

I love me some goat cheese.

Double Gloucester. yes. with chive. i have that at the moment, as no one else likes it but me.

that's a pile of poo. Applewood is nice, but no where fucking near the best.

This.

But Stilton is my vice.

MA 01-12-2010 03:57 PM

as long as the copper hasn't been left in too long.

shaman 01-12-2010 04:02 PM

It's odd, i've never really been a fan of strong cheese. But upon visiting cheddar gorge i found i liked pretty much anything. Even the most revolting shite you could imagine which in most other cases i would pass off.

I'm tempted to believe that good cheese does indeed only come from cheddar.

I can't imagine not liking Double Gloucester and Chive. I've also had some very posh uppity wensleydale and cranberries as well as white stilton with lemon & lime (that one didn't really taste of cheese at all).

I'm the only one in the house that eats blue Stilton though. I've also noticed that eating stronger chedder has caused me to dislike the milder versions of it.

MA 01-12-2010 04:13 PM

Stilton, spot on. more to the point, Wensleydale and Cranberry cheese is lovely also. although majorly crumbly.

Yes. Have you had Black Bomber? I often buy it from Holmfirth.

MA 01-12-2010 04:17 PM

i've never even heard of it, shockingly. is it a strong Wensleydale?

OddjobAbe 01-12-2010 04:20 PM

It isn't Wensleydale. It is strong, but unlike Wensleydale, it isn't crumbly. I often buy it to put on my crackers, but I just end up eating it in the car. Lovely stuff. Every time I go to Holmfirth, I get 200g of it, sometimes 400 if I intend to share it.

Nate 01-12-2010 07:16 PM

I'm amazed how much people want to talk about Cheeses. Perhaps it justifies its own thread. I'm embarrased to admit how much the edited tinytext pun in the OP made me giggle.

I need to learn more about cheese. For most of my life, I've been limited to whatever my mum bought from the local kosher store. If you'd asked me what my favourite type of cheese was, the answer would have been 'Yellow'. Now I'm on my own and free of such restrictions, but I don't even know where to start.

Mac Sirloin 01-12-2010 07:36 PM

Nice fucking pun. Goddman I love my avatar.

Anyways, marble cheddar is my favorite cheese to eat when I'm high. It's like a rainbow of flavour.

To be honest, any cheese is delicious when you're high. Any anything is delicious when you're high.

Fuck, I'm hungry.

I have no idea what this means, but goddamn I love it. I think I'm gonna go change my CT.

Marble Cheddar is like, orange and white, right? I think that's what marble is. So naturally, to me, anything with two colors is a rainbow.

Fresh parmesan is king. Also has anyone here tried Burduf cheese?

Fresh parmesan is king.

Whereas non-fresh Parmesan is Satan's smegma.

Pilot 01-12-2010 08:43 PM

Really? Do I need to be the one to say it....?

I AM THE CHEESE. I AM THE BEST CHARACTER ON THE SHOW. I AM BETTER THAN THE SALAMI AND THE BOLOGNA COMBINED.

For your consideration, a NON-POOP classic cartoon moment.

Strike Witch 01-12-2010 09:24 PM

I use mostly cheddar and some Parmesan cheese when I make my own pizza.

i have never tried that. but i can get like that with cheese, as in 'trying' some before it even gets home. it may surprise some that i do that most often with any type of Stilton; it has such flavour. and i have to say my favourite cracker to put cheese on is Ritz crackers.

OddjobAbe 01-13-2010 07:31 AM

I fucking love Ritz. They're nice on their own, but with cheese on, Christ almighty, they're wonderful.

MeechMunchie 01-13-2010 08:41 AM

Thirded.

To the comments on Wensleydale, only certain types are crumbly. Cow milk Wensleydale is crumbly, and the most popular and obtainable, but Sheep's milk Wensleydale holds itself together easy. SMW is also the best thing (IMO) to put on Ritz. Wensleydale in general is my favorite cheese. Cheese with fruit in it makes my soul bleed.

Also, Feta. Mmm. Manchego, anyone? Caeso Viego is good too. Hard to find though.

used:) 01-13-2010 04:52 PM

LOVE Feta. Gorgonzola too. I also love Muenster, the American version of Munster.

Pilot 01-13-2010 06:24 PM

But of course; I come to OWF for the spam.

...but I stay for the cheese.

When are we going to get to cocktail sausages?

slig# 5719 01-14-2010 04:00 PM

I tried some smoked chedder today and it was lovely. It had a kind of meaty taste to it.

I also tried some dutch blue cheese, it had a nice creamy texture to it but the taste almost activated my gagging reflex. When I was eating it the only description of the taste I could come up with was of old paint.

MA 01-14-2010 07:11 PM

hey, old paint isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

i remember a few Christmases ago we got some Wensleydale and apricot. same as the cranberry version, only apricot. fucking obviously. but yeah, it was quite delicious.

also, i cant for the life of me remember or find out what cheese we always end up getting each year, but it isn't anything fancy and is spherical with a two-colour swirl pattern of orange and white. soft and a bit 'gluey', and to be honest not that nice. don't know why the fuck we get it.
