Petition for the Abolishment of the Reputation System
 

I am proposing that we bring an end to the reputation system because I believe that the quality of general posting at these forums has, in my opinion, declined with the introduction of ‘reputation’. Some may assume I am merely lodging this complaint because I have a pitiful amount of reputation points. No, I am positive that the amount of pointless, crude posts is a result of people trying to achieve some reputation points. Yes, some of these posts are rather humours, even a majority of them, but I think this humour is getting old. I miss the day when one could create a thread without it turning into a gargantuan mass of spam.

First of all, you have the 26th highest reputation of any member, 25th excluding multis.

Second of all, by your logic, the Forums are now filled with the most popular content that most people want. I think it's just correlation, not causation.

Oh, and wrong forum.

I Dont mind, I have little rep and to be honest not that many people really take it into a ccount much.

Oh, please. We were just as cuntish, if not more cuntish, before the rep system was put in place.

Perhaps the negative reputation option should only lower their rep by 0.1? To make everyone less "bad" and more "neutral"?

I think we should just abolish OANST.

It only lowers their rep by half of your rep points. That seems pretty fair.

I personally dig the rep system. I think it's cut down on a ton of bullshit. Before, the forums were littered with:

I hate any sort of reputation system anyway, so yes.

I don't think getting rid of the Rep system would change people on this forum so there's really no point. It's probably there to encourage members to post useful things and avoid spamming to get their post count up. Not that there's a lot of interesting posts going around... but OWI is hibernating or some shit so we havent got a lot to talk about.

and that. i was going to say virtually the same thing just after Max posted, but i was hoping this would get ignored due to its lack of anything 'worthwhile', if you like. i doubt Alcar will remove this system that has been in place for 2 years, now. unless it becomes a gateway to hell and its Ultimate Doom all over again.
