Casualties Bug in Stockyard ?
OK! So I just started playing AO for the first time, via Steam on my pc. I played through Rupture Farms, and saved all 28 Muds. I just started on the Stockyards, and have saved the 1st Mud, and then the next 2, I returned to the start screen so it would autosave me, but then I noticed the Mud board read -3 casualties! Instead of rescuing those first 3 Muds, it made them as deaths. After spending hours googling wtf this was about, I came across these forums (yay) and I *did* find a thread on here that mentioned the exact same problem, but the issue was never resolved.
Here's the link: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showth...ive+casualties The only answers this evil_gerbil guy got were that the answer to this problem already existed on these forums, but I have scoured them for a few hours now and I can't find a lick of info on it besides this one post. Did anyone ever figure out if there was a way to fix this? Not being able to properly save the Muds sort of makes the game entirely pointless (for me at least). If no one has any ideas on wtf this is all about, I'm going to have to uninstall and reinstall and start all over again :( Which I may have to do anyway, and then hope against hope that it fixes itself. |
If you keep progressing through the game, does the casualty stay at −3, or does it sort itself out?
|
No it doesn't stay at 3, it's only at 3 right now because that's how many Muds I've rescued. The Muds I rescue are being counted as casualties instead of rescues :(
I think I am going to go find a 4th and see if it corrects itself. If not, then I think I just have to reinstall and start over ;( EDIT*** Oh and it also says 31 rescues, so basically it is counting my rescues as casualties AND rescues...but I'm still concerned it's going to affect the ending for me. Maybe if I play through it will correct itself on the next zone. I'm afraid to waste so much time doing that though, when it's just a theory. |
If it's counting all the escapees correctly, then I believe it should be fine, because it's only that figure that the game looks at (unless you're aiming to kill as many Mudokons as possible).
I'm not on my own PC at the moment, but I'll see if I can cheekily install AO from Steam and recreate your situation. |
That would be lovely! At this time, I am continuing on and will see what happens.
|
Sorry miode, I couldn't replicate this issure. I went back to the first screen of the Stockyards and had 31 escapees and zero casualties. I hope everything works out fine for your game. Even if the numbers don't fix, the game should recognize your success if your rescue stats are working.

well, thanks for trying anyhow! I'll post my results for others in the future, once I get to the end.
|
It's possible that restarting the game from scratch will fix the problem. Alternatively, try uninstalling and reinstalling the game and then restarting from the beginning.
|
This is odd. Never happended to me! But i want try that anyways.

Is there a way to access level select in the PC version? If so, try starting from RuptureFarms with level select, get to the Stockyards and see what happens. Other than that I really don't have any other recommendations or suggestions.

Level select works by going into the main menu and holding Shift button while pressing down, right, left, right, left, right, left, up
If you hold Shift and press the buttons in the opposite order you go into the video galery |
