They're really good. What is TAS anyway?

Dryadri 01-01-2010 12:59 PM

They're pretty good, I get too nervous when running past sligs like that.

Naulahauta 01-01-2010 01:06 PM

Man, I love TASes! Great job on each!
Also: OddMan360: TAS stands for Tool-Assisted Speedrun. They're done with the help of slow-motion, save states and luck manipulation.

RoryF 01-01-2010 01:13 PM

When I run past the sligs I laugh when I get blown up or shot.

Dryadri 01-01-2010 01:44 PM

It's funnier to possess a slig and shoot a mudokon. Unsuspecting little slaves.

lol I agree. I acciedently shot one in the face. It was cruel but funny.

Dryadri 01-01-2010 02:04 PM

...OR if you tell then to look out and keep shooting, eventually they look up again and if you're still shooting you fill them full of holes. : P

Absolutely love it. Super work. TASes are my new love.

Nate 01-01-2010 05:12 PM

How did he do the thing of climbing through solid platforms at 20s and 1:39 of the Rupturefarms one?

Phylum 01-01-2010 09:01 PM

I really want to know...

Fastabillity, I'd like to see you do these without the tool assists, as I'm guessing they'd be very impressive.

Nate! I can explain that trick right here:

basically, Abe can cancel auto-turn by beginning to run. If a certain move was supposed to follow the auto-turn, it will be delayed as long as you don't attempt to turn normally while walking. For ledge descending, the instructions are...

1. stand on a ledge, with Abe facing the side without floor (so that he would have to auto-turn before descending).
2. press 'down', but start running to cancel the auto-turn.
3. after moving Abe to a desired spot, stop, then just turn around normally. He will climb down through the floor.

What other cheeky, non-standard possibilities arise using this method? Is the magic, invisible Elum-mounting in Scrabania the same kind of thing?

That's pretty funky. I love these TAS vids

Nice speedruns, I enjoyed watching them. I laughed at the invisible Elum thing and at how you managed to get away from all the Sligs without getting shot.

Impressive stuff right here!

For monsaic lines: Isn't it possible to play the song with the bells yourself if you already know it? So you won't have to get trough the bees and touch the stone to get the tune.

I tried it myself, on the first one that starts at the lowest note and goes to the highest. Didn't work, but once I got the stone for the tune it opened the door, so I don't think it's possible.

Wil 01-06-2010 04:27 AM

It's not possible to unlock Chime Locks without first listening to the tune at the story stone, even if you can correctly recall the sequence of chimes needed.
