TF2 Demoman and Soldier Updates

I saw the comic on the blog. I think there will be worldwide contest to see which class can the most kills etc. and the winner will get a new unlockable. (Process repeated six times, obviously)

Ugh, when will they update the Engie? Thats an update I really want.

I want a Soldier update more then anything...

I'm hoping the Soldier doesn't lose :(
but I'm also hoping they make it so (For example) if the Demoman gets more kills there'll still be a Soldier update on a later date.

Edit: I too would love a Engie update :)

The demoman in the Eye Museum actually made my day.

Am I the only one wondering why that eye was bigger than any of their heads?

Anyway, I wish they'd do some kind of rudimentary update for the 360 version. Expand Well into its CTF counterpart and such.

The fact that there's been this much red tape over it is fucking retarded.

On topic: I'm thinking both of them will get the unlocks simultaneously, a la Sniper vs. Spy.

Yay, I've been waiting ages for a soldier update!

So do I, but they don't release it all at the same time. Normally it lasts about 5 days with a new release a day. With Sni. V Spy it was twice as long since there were two classes. This time I suspect it will be the same, but the order things are released will be decided by competitions.

I've never played TF2.

Yay, 54 kills for the soldiers cause. I was also playing demo and letting myself get hit by rockets.

The Escapist article said there were soundbites of The Administrator berating the 'friends'. Do you think they'll be used when Steam friends play a RED Demoman and a BLU Soldier? Also,

I don't see how they can really give him a better Primary. They can't give him something that does more damage, since that'll just eat everything below the Medic alive.

Unless it shoots faster rockets with a lot more bounceback that do less damage and let him jump higher.

I wonder if there's a vertical boundary in TF2 maps. Some people rocket-jump quite high already...

I could imagine a laser-guide rocket launcher, though it'd ruin the WW2 Soldier concept a bit. Still, it would be a fun addition. You could control your rockets, but you could only shoot again when the previous one had exploded...

Somehow, I can't imagine what sort of updates could the Engineer get. Perhaps a nailgun, functioning as a machine gun? Or a special wrench?

I'd say they'll probably do more powerful explosions but less damage, for more lulz at once.

A Leaked Beta done by Russian Testers revealed the new Engie Wrench built things twice as fast. Or it hit Sappers off instantly but didn't crit. I think it was the former.

There is a vertical 'roof'. Uber a Demoman on 2fort and make him Detonate about 5 grenades. He'll go a little higher than the topmost roof and then stop.

Well, i'm now playing for the Demomen. 32 Soldiers dead in about half an hour.

Anyway, I don't mind who wins, because I already play Soldier a bit, and I need to brush up on my skills on the Demoman, even though I only play as the scout/sniper.

Also is their a hint in that for a new hat, if you, perhaps, kill a certain amount of demomen/soldiers?

On another (but still on-topic) note, the whole Demoman vs. Soldier competition goes for a special 4th weapon for the winner class, right? The way I understood those articles at the class status sites, both classes get updates soon, and the winner gets an additional weapon.

Engie Wrench that builds faster? Surely there will be some drawback. There's always a drawback. Like when I unlocked The Kritzkrieg and expected to Über more often. Then I realised what 'Kritz' stands for... It's not the same amount of awesomeness.

Oh, and ten Demomen have been offed by me up to this point, that's my contribution. Expect more.

It doesn't crit or takes 3 hits to remove Sappers.
There was also a medigun that ubered more but only for like 75% of regular Uber length.
