Oddworld Adventures... need help, going insane
 

Ok.

A while back I made a thread for Oddworld Adventures asking about the "secret areas" that were allegedly in it, but the thread closed because barely any progress was made on the matter and people lost interest.

BUT I HAVE MADE AN INTERESTING DISCOVERY!

I found some spare time and tried to narrow down where these secrets may exist and judging by the number of different passwords for some levels, this is what I have learned.

1. There are 4 different passwords for the Paramonian Temple Trial Room, but no matter what I do in the intro trial (first level), I can only get one of the passwords. This means that there must be a secret somewhere in the first level.

2. There are more than 7 passwords for the first level after the Paramonian Nests, so there must be a secret in the Nests too.

3. There may be a few other secrets, but I'm not totally sure where. Only the first two are definite.

If anyone has any idea where these secrets are or if there are hidden passwords or codes, your contribution will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can't you just work out the codes? I did this for a password in the Paramonian Temple in AO where I just couldn't be stuffed getting rid of a paramite to press the Stone.

~I assume OA has the same gamespeak and so on?

I don't think he's referring to the passwords you have to give other mudokons in Abe's Oddysee, he said it's Oddworld Adventures which is the gameboy advance Oddworld game (I think).

So I imagine by passwords he means like the alternative to game-saves, passwords where you get given a password for each level and you can use that to skip straight to that level next time you start. But what he's saying is that there are several different passwords for one level so it's possible that there's secrets in the preceding level that result in that password.

Or at least that's my impression of what he's trying to say :p

As for your actual question, Marlz, I don't actually have Oddworld Adventures so I can't help you there, but hopefully some other people may be able to help.

Yes, you are 100% correct Gretin. That is exactly what I am trying to say. And in the 3 years that I've had Oddworld Adventures the only secret password I've found was this - DCBCR - which takes you to the half-way point of the first level (intro trial).

According to the manual, you need to fire the flintlocks in the Paramonian Temple to receive the Paramonian Scar in order to save the Paramites (and the Mudokons, even though the only Mudokon in the game other than Abe and Big Face is a Native Mudokon).
There are no enslaved Mudokons you can rescue, to the best of my knowledge, and Scrabs and RuptureFarms are mentioned but never seen.

I think there's a lot less in this game than you think. I'm certain there aren't any secret mudukons to rescue, although the passwords are interesting...

The secret passwords are interesting because they exist, not because I know them, which I don't...

Here is the password for the Paramonian Temple Trial Room:
J C B C M
Now here are three more unobtainable passwords to get you to the same spot:
J C B H R
J C B M C
J C B R H


There seems to be no way to obtain these passwords xcept through trial and error at the password screen. The game box even said (and I brought this up i the GameBoy Oddworld thread too) that there were 14 different areas, plus some secret ones if you can find them. There are only 14 levels, so where are the secrets? I mean, OWI wouldn't lie to us, would they? Please tell me they wouldn't.

Yes, I know of those. The codes starting with a B, a J or an S are all passwords you can normally get but no matter how many times I play through (and beat) the game I cannot get the T passwords in that list because they are secret passwords.

For example:
On the password list the code for the first level after the Paramonian Nests is
TBCCS
But the password I get every time (even when I do the trials in a different order or don't die once) is
TBFCQ.
This confuses me. I can only get TBCCS if I use another secret password from an earlier level and then get to the same spot.



Yeah, confusing isn't it?



EDIT: I've nearly found all of the passwords so I might post the whole list when I find all of them. No, I still haven't found any new secrets yet.
