Delete account?
Can someone delete my account on here for me.. I signed up like 6 years ago and keep getting birthday emails through.. best off it being deleted rather than me just changing email so i dont get em eh?
thanks |
Uhhhh... that should have been posted in W&B, or a PM to an admin.
*moves* As a rule, we don't delete accounts. Alcar might have some way of turning off birthday emails though. |
that's a hilariously petty concern
Change your email address if it bothers you that much, as we don't delete accounts.
Alcar... |
Or, even better, I'll change your email address on the system.
EDIT: I'm going to guess that someone's already done it. And just not said. Thanks. I enjoyed running in your footprints. Y'jerk. |
An alternative option could be to become an active member.
:
Obviously not. |
wow... You got a total of 6 emails from OWF... O_O Must be terrible.
Getting birthday emails are the worst. Ugh, I feel your pain.
So, why don't we delete accounts?
Same reason we don't delete anything. What to members looks like deletion is often just hiding. It's still all on the system.
:
Don't click the 'l' in 'Oddworld Forums' on the Oddworld Help forum. Seriously. |
Also, because deleting an account will also delete all that member's posts. And we don't like it when threads lose their logical flow.
Makes sense.
Wouldn't if your account was deleted :p
Phylum, your comment really didn't make any sense whatsoever.
I think his point was that forum discussions would not make any sense if your account was deleted.
Ohhhhh, I'm with you now. Sorry.
I completely get what you guys are saying, and I fully agree with you, but the dudes got like 2 posts. It's not like discussions would lack continuity without his 2 posts.
True, but we've got to be consistent with these sorts of things.
Holy shit, if I had a dollar for every time I've used the word 'consistent' (or 'consistency' or 'inconsistent') in the last week, I'd have a mint. Damn shitty assignment marking. |
No need to be consistent. It's only fair to review a situation on an individual basis, and personally I think it's only fair to allow people control over their own accounts. There's no need to delete every post, I'm sure; on other forum's their posts remain but the name's attached to that post changes to "deleted user", or whatever.
If the account was attached to personal details I'd agree, but since accounts here are basically just vessels for consistent accountability of messaging no such attachment is made. We're each just a username. Retroactively anonymizing authors leads to confusion. In brad's case, with his post count of two, this confusion will barely register, if it does at all. Nonetheless, since his account is no longer linked to him via his real email address, it can scarcely be called his account.
