3D Big Bro Slig Model
Work in Progress over the weekend, ive started learning maya, got the basics of modelling and learnt half the processes of texturing (probably should have done some more tutorials before doin this :fuzconf:)
I think its alright so far, need some better references for the goggles and backpack if anyone knows about some good pics? EDIT: The other thing i could use a hand with is getting the colour right, im slightly colourblind which doesnt affect normally but sligskin is quite an odd shade |
Not too bad. I think TOGG has the largest collection of Oddworld related images. Try that.
Nice. BBS are just normal sligs on 'roids. So they have tails.
:
Don't they have 3 mechanical legs though? If I'm wrong I'm sorry, but I could've sworn there were 3.
close, they have 4 legs actually, I'll do them later this week if people think I should
O wow really? Well Thank you for the correction. I just remembered from MO. I guess you can't see the front leg though...
You can try adding more details. Average polycount of models for nextgen is around 4-5k for low poly model
Improvements....
added more detail to the arms, trying to emphasise the muscles in the shoulders and chest and the bones on the head, also changed the gloves and smoothed it
Awesome work dude! :) Really like it! So could you tell us the poly/ triangle amount?
thanks man, its 1562 polys (2980 tris) unsmoothed and about 5k poly with smooth on, it probably could stand to lose a few polys, on the back especially
Amazing is the one word I can find for this.
"Let there be legs"
pretty much finished modelling the leg little touches needed i think, will start texturing tomorrow probably
hastily cobbled the legs and torso together for this pic to show how its gettin on, enjoy |
Wow. This is really cool. I haven't seen a Big Bro model come this far before.
models gettin there, should look alrightish. Unwrapping the legs took more time than I'd have liked but thats done now, and I've almost finished texturing the knee, though some of the screws are distorted so I'll have to sort that, packin in for 2nite though, rough day lol
Legs textured, though it looks a little basic I think, might add some more rust in places. I'll do some work on the seat later today or tomorrow, hopefully it won't take too long
The legs look almost exactly the saem as the ones in the game.
The slig needs a bit of work on it's skin color. Slightly darker and a little more green for good measure I think. |
has anybody tried making Oddworld Models on Garry's mod?
Oh and really good model! |
modelled the seat, done some okish normal maps and mostly rigged but it needs some fine tuning, its my first character in maya so im still gettin the hang of it.
Also took the skin shade down a tone and tried to work in some subtle greens, not sure how well they show here |
Wow, you got some talent man. Plan on making any other 3D art?
That's about as perfect as you can get it. Really. There's practically nothing left to make it better.
Lovin' it
cheers for the compliments, its lookin alright I think, but nothings ever perfect :D, still missing the backpack but the model could work without it, I will probably start animating anyway
it will be nice if you could add some nice specularity for metal elements :D
Specular and reflections added, I'm re-rigging the torso atm because I'd done some stuff that works in max but makes animation difficult in maya,
also upgraded to windows 7 this week and was having trouble getting maya to work (you need desktop composition enabled if anyone has my problem) |
I have to admit I've never actually played Munch but
http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=CAMO0007.jpg1 http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=RAMO0030.jpg1 I like this visor in the ads much more than the one in the games...not to mention the sketch has a steampunkness to the legs which I quite dig. http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=RAMO0092.jpg4 http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=RAMO0052.jpg2 http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=RAMO0152.gif6 the actual in-game visor also seems to have some extra detail there good stuff anyways, digged your short too...keep on working on your animations |
I think that many versions of visors can be created in pretty short time. Of course if Grieva wants do it :)
The BB Slig looks great especially the legs are awesome :fuzcool:
Hey you will animate the BigBro right? ^^ ~I'm looking forward that :D |
I'm going to remodel the mask (I knew someone would point that out) cheers for the sources ConceitArturo, also modelling the Blitzpacker but have conflicting sources for that too,
http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=RAMO0092.jpg4 http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=RAMO0052.jpg2 the choice is top loading or bottom loading, both look good, and I was wondering if the double barrelled version appeared in the game? |
is this fun? I mena do you enjoy doing it? Generally just interested
