What do you sound like?

MOD EDIT: Thread split off from WDYLL here.

Edit: Oh, like a typical Scottish person? Interesting... I've had that mentioned before by someone :D My accent is really neutral. I'll attach a sample.

I have a North-West English accent with a hint of Mancunian from my time at university.

Are you from Romulus, AlexFili?

AlexFili 10-02-2009 01:21 PM

I'm a Gemini!

Pilot 10-02-2009 08:42 PM

I just want to listen to that over and over again.

How about a new thread "What Do You Sound Like?" or "Who Could You Sound Like?" I feel like poorly imitating other people.

I'll gladly do it.

I've done that twice, Justin. Each time it garnered poor reviews.

Also, you remind me of Bill Nye. Both in appearance and voice.

I think my voice bears a slight resemblence to that of Michael C. Hall's.

Sekto Springs 10-03-2009 12:02 AM

To those of you who have heard my voice, I challenge you to describe it on my behalf.

Jordan 10-03-2009 02:21 AM

I have a retarded Woodhouse voice, meaning I'd probably sound like an absolute yob if I spoke normally. Still, I'll probably record it anyway.

Your voice sounds like the C string on a viola, Chris.

I actually did.

Wings of Fire 10-03-2009 07:58 AM

Pilot has a wonderful voice, Alexfili could get a job as a BBC newsman.

I dont know if I posted a picture of myself, so here I am.

You remind me of '70s Starsky and Hutch. I love it.

I may only have one available image at the moment, but I have an unlimited supply of potential .wav files. Example is attached. I have poor recording equipment, so it sounds a little bit "warbly", but you get the idea. This isn't a good example of my accent and dialect, due to the short length, but never mind.

moxco 10-03-2009 12:49 PM

I’ll record my voice. I sound like a nasally pre-pubescent version of Captain Barbossa. I don't even have to try on Talk Like a Pirate Day!

What did you say, Oddjob?

Wings of Fire 10-03-2009 03:52 PM

I think I did that right, I sound a lot better than I thought I did.

shaman 10-03-2009 04:28 PM

WOF's voice made me swoon.

Wil 10-03-2009 04:38 PM

Alex, your voice does sound almost accentless, but there is enough Northern coming through to give you away. Unlike Oddjob. Jesus. I've been living in Sheffield on and off for four years and I've not heard anything so strongly Northern as that. Even I had to listen through a quarter dozen times to catch everything.

Joe, you speak very properly. Almost flawless RP. I don't keep in touch with anyone who speaks that precisely. I'll grant that you're possibly doing so a bit more because you know you're being recorded. Jason, I'm not convinced you're not putting on or exagerating that accent just a little bit, at least at the beginning.

Not to be mean, but I could not understand a word you were saying.

Nate 10-03-2009 08:17 PM

New thread. If anyone can tell me what version number this thread should be, I'll update it.

That's understandable. It's one of those accents thar most people tend not to understand unless they've adjusted their ears to it (much like the geordie accent or the Rab C. Nesbitt-esque scottish accent).

Wil 10-04-2009 04:07 AM

I was going to do this when I woke up, you beat to it. I was also going to leave it numberless.

Jordan 10-04-2009 05:10 AM

Oh my god.

Wil 10-04-2009 05:28 AM

Jordan, you definitely sound Northern to me. Sorry to say.

Well, not completely sorry. There's no shame it in. You just seem less than pleased with the idea.

*hugs*

Jordan 10-04-2009 05:31 AM

I'm not disappointed or anything, I was surprised when I was told I sound Northern. I'm even more surprised at your confirmation at it. :p

OddjobAbe 10-04-2009 05:43 AM

You sound a bit like my eldest nephew.

MeechMunchie 10-04-2009 08:15 AM

My voice always seems prone to recording distortion, so I probably won't find a soundbite I'm happy with. I like to think I've got a well-spoken baritone and slightly gravelly voice.

Bullet Magnet 10-04-2009 08:25 AM

I still have the slightly nasally teen geek voice and an brand of the British accent I swear I haven't heard anywhere else.

abe is now! 10-04-2009 08:32 AM

Can I record my Italian voice?

Mac Sirloin 10-04-2009 08:40 AM

This speaks for itself.

Of course you may, but we'd prefer to hear your Mayan voice.

this is me bumbling through a sentence i was making up as i said it.

i actually have an underlying Birmingham accent, but it doesn't come out too well there. not that i particularly want it to. people have said it's actually a Lichfield accent, but i cant hear anything but a slight brummie/fuckknowswhat mixture.
