How do I record Abe's Oddysee (PC)?

I need to stop saying that.

Anyways, I once had a bundle of videos of me going through Abe's Exoddus with DDcheat. But because they were crappy, I decided to remove them.

So after I got Abe's Oddysee, I told myself, "Hey, why not make a playthrough of it? I already done Syobon Action, so why not this?".

Just two problem occurs:

1. On HyperCam, I don't know the screen resolution to record it perfectly.

2. On Fraps, it doesn't detect the game, so I can't record it.

So if you can help with either one of the problems, I would appreciate that. And I will give you pie (because cakes are LIES).

I'm not sure how am I suppose to select the window easily, because the Abe's Oddysee takes up the "entire screen", but according to hypercam:

The screen is too small, which is why I need a good resolution.

Edit: Erm...somethings wrong. When I tried that resolution, it only records PART of the screen.

Edit 2: Apparently, the resolution is 640 by 480. I give you half of the pie for trying to help, though.

Hmmm. Is there any possible way to play AO in a window? I've tried the "alt+enter" trick and the "-window" trick but neither work.

As a more extreme solution you could......

1. Install Ubuntu linux / dual boot it with Windows
2. Install Wine
3. Install AO
4. Install RecordMyDesktop
5. Use RecordMyDesktop to record AO running under wine

Edit: Assuming you already own AO, this is totally free too ;)

I use Camtasia.......I have done a complete longplay of Abe's Oddysee.
If you are interested, I can put it on Megaupload or Rapidshare for you.
It is completed with all secrets and all mudokons rescued.

That is waaaaaay to much effort just to record a game. Don't you think :D.

Yes but there are alternatives and perhaps better ways to record AO or AE gameplay. Also people may need help recording, so they will post here, so usually topics are left open and the discussion carries on.

Not if you already have Linux and Wine. In fact, not even if you only have Linux installed.

I have problems recoreding AE. Hypercam dose the job..sorta, The recording is small once i upload it to MovieMaker.

HyperCam is a good option. CamStudio really lags AO/AE/any game so ridiculously.

I use camstudio, and it shrinked the screen. I noticed if you start recording by pressing F8 in game* it turned out ok*.
*there is a 50/50 chance in that it will work.
*quality may suck however turning it higher lags :(.
