Japanese GameSpeak - Sligs & Mudokons

I decided to play a bit of my new Abe A GoGo game that I imported from Japan. I've ripped the majority of the character's gamespeak from the game, hope you enjoy!

Since I have the game, feel free to ask any request you may have about it.
BTW the game comes with an image walkthrough of Rupture Farms part 1 :D

Basic rundown of each file;

AbeSpeakJapanese - Audio of Abe's Japanese speech.
SligSpeakJapanese - Audio of Slig's Japanese speech.
Sligs Chatting - This is me talking to another Slig (and then shooting him).
SligFunnyTalk - This is taken from the second cutscene, in which you can hear the Sligs with their helium voices :D.
freeze! - In this one, you can hear what happens when you reveal yourself to the Sligs (I did this on the second screen of the game, where you can hang down and the Slig will say FREEZE and try to shoot you).
helpme - This is what happens when you try and possess a Slig.

Notes: This game uses the AE version of the Mudokon Pops icon in the FMV. The LCD screens have changed, so have the screens with writing on (eg. Save the 28 mudokons or else! poster). From my basic Japanese knowledge, it's just a straight translation from English. Despite the change of tone, it's still a reasonably violent game (with regards to shooting people to bits and getting them minced in the machine). The hand icons have also changed to show three fingers, although the FMVs still show four fingers.

That is fantastic! Can you get some Glukkon speak from the FMVs?

AlexFili 09-28-2009 09:02 AM

Well I can try. To be honest they're quite generic. Here ya go;
This is from the first FMV (the boardroom).

Note: The high pitched voice is the Slig (yeah, heliumhead). The first word you can hear is "Murrock-Sama" which is a Japanified way of saying "Lord/Sir Mullock".
BTW, is there an actual script for this boardroom scene?

Josh 09-28-2009 09:51 AM

I love you. :D

Sekto Springs 09-28-2009 10:43 AM

They're so adorable sounding.
Fucking japs and their cuteness.

used:) 09-28-2009 10:49 AM

HEHEHEH. I'd love to hear the Vykkers from MO.

Josh 09-28-2009 10:56 AM

Did OWI ever do a Japanese MO?

AlexFili 09-28-2009 11:47 PM

Since MO and SW only arrived on the American Microsoft Xbox, I doubt it.
It's not listed on wikipedia or gamefaqs... so it probably didn't get ported.

I love the way Sligs call for help in the Japanese version, it makes them sound even more pathetic than usual! I'm glad you were all able to enjoy this.

moxco 09-29-2009 02:06 AM

I was about to show off my japanese skills but after I translated that crap I realised it was obvious what everything meant anyway.

AlexFili 09-29-2009 04:51 AM

Did you mean the FMV or the Japanese phrases?
I'm curious to see what the Glukkons are saying in the FMV.

abe619 11-16-2009 01:49 PM

they sound really funny , good job.

Crashpunk 11-18-2009 09:59 AM

Oh fucking sweet! Thanks Alexfili!

They go well with the Oddworld Caramelldasen for some reason :D

AlexFili 11-18-2009 11:15 AM

I might make a song using a few of the voices, that would be fun.

MeechMunchie 11-18-2009 11:24 AM

I once tried to redo Eminem's 'My Name Is...' with AO noises.

Hi! My name is..
What?
My name is..
Who?
My name is.. *rickaticka* Slim Shady

to

'Hi' (Mud) 'My name is...' (Abe)
'What?' (Slig)
'My name is...'
'What?'
'S'MO BS' 'SM'O BS' 'BS' 'BS' (Slig)

AlexFili 11-18-2009 11:34 PM

Great idea mate, I should try that.

MarsMudoken 11-18-2009 11:54 PM

What does SMO BS etc mean?

AlexFili 11-19-2009 12:28 AM

Done.

BS doesn't really mean anything. It's just a nonsense word.

Grieva 11-19-2009 01:44 AM

thats actually really good, nice work man

Crashpunk 11-19-2009 11:32 AM

Yeah totally not Stealing ideas or anything?

BS doesn't really mean anything. It's just a nonsense word.
Nope BS means 'Bull Shit'
and SMO BS means 'Some more Bull Shit' apparently.
But yeah its really just Slig Nonsense like what Alexfili said.

AlexFili 11-19-2009 11:33 PM

All credit for the idea goes to Meech Munchie.

I love the Japanese "Taskiteeeeee!" which means help (The pitch is just so perfect, making them seem like really scared little kids).
