Why do you want to make a game, then? Perhaps you should focus on an area that your talents already lie in. Perhaps fan fiction or art?

Or you could try helping out with one of the game projects already going on in Fan Corner.

By the time you are writing this, about 5 or 10 people are already developing this as you speak. You've run into one of the fundamental problems on this board which is everyone wants to re-invent the wheel.

What we need is someone brave enough to create a really good engine that everyone can use (Not me!). Until then, everyone'll just be repeating themselves.

Personally, if you can't code. I would try something else. Try finding someone without a story or working on another talent that you have.

I'd really give Game Maker a try if I were you. It's really not that difficult to start making games with it once you figure out what you're doing. I had no idea what coding was when I first picked it up, but have gotten a lot better with both GML and AS3 since then. There are lots of tutorials to be found online to help you. Just give it a shot and see if this might be for you.

I'd promote Flash rather than Game Maker. Whatever tool you use, try to think outside the box. People don't want to play the same old garbage, so try and throw some curveballs.

I was going to do this with my engine, but to make it conpatible for everyone to use is just way too much effort and work.

This. Use Flash. Action script is not actually as hard to learn as it looks. If you don't have flash and want to use it, PM me. I recommend Flash CS3.

some tips;
- avoid referencing oddworld characters whenever possible
- don't call your fanfic Oddysee
- make sure you carry on past the first chapter
