Okay. Ask Lorne for his opinion on someone else's statement about violence in video games and he will gladly spill the beans. Ask him about what he is up to lately and it is all hush hush. He could atleast drop a clue.

No. I think he is floundering around, wondering where he went wrong. You do realize that the chances of anything by this company ever seeing the light of day are slim to none at this point, don't you? It's unfortunate. I really liked the Oddworld games. But Lorne decided that he was done playing the game after a few disappointments (one of which was his own fault), and he has now been sitting on a lifeless studio for four years. Companies don't typically bounce back after going four years without income.

And he isn't doing all of these panels because he is relevant. He is doing them because he's available, and he makes sure that they know he is available. These little talks are probably his only source of income, at the moment.

OWI went belly-up, Lorne knows this... so do you really think he's going to try and use his old company to create something new?
He will use his connections and the friends he's made over the years to catalyze a new project, with or without the attached title of "Oddworld Creator and Executive Producer".

If you have an idea and a bangin' portfolio, it's not that hard to get back into work. Lorne is taking his sweet old time, yes. But make no mistake, he does have something in the works. I find it ironic that you're all so starved for his creations that you take to bashing the creator himself. Bite the hand that feeds you so to speak.

I know this is a scary eye-opener for some of the people here, but there are other games out there besides Oddworld. Until Lorne gets back on his feet, perhaps you guys should try worshiping Tim Schaffer for a while.

However, the likelihood we'll see another Oddworld game from him, I believe, is almost nill atp. Unless of course the bastard mods are withholding information like they tend to do and Lorne really is working on something new.

Last thing I heard he was trying to get MO and SW on steam delegating this work to another studio. He was also praising Valve and steam telling us how smart those guys were and how impressive their technology is.

Check the "What are you playing" thread. None of us are sitting on our hands, waiting for the next Oddworld game. Also, we probably wouldn't bash him if he was a bit more straight forward about what is going on with his company. It's that shit eating grin, combined with his cryptic hints, and incessant whining about the game industry that causes people to bash him.

I agree. I have the upmost respect for Lorne and his creations, but he should be able to do more, what with the connections he has gained and the reputation he has built up over the years. Instead, we are only ever treated to him teasing us with non-specific hints and year old pieces of concept art for a project that might not even flurish if Lorne keeps up his routine of wanting near perfection of everything in it. In this current climate, he cannot afford to do that.
