The Moments You'll Never Forget
There are moments in gaming that leave us awestruck, whether it's the final blow given to that bastard you spent weeks trying to kill, the most jaw-dropping plot twist you witnessed, or simply a one liner that's stuck to you like a suicidal ex-partner.
So...what is your most precious gaming moment? The final mission on Scrin's campaign, in Command & Conquer 3, would probably be mine. Or finishing the entire Halo trilogy on Legendary. Share. |
My guilds first downing of Prince Malchezaar in Karazhan ranks the highest.
OMG ALEX WAS BADGUY ALL ALONG from Golden Sun 2. The end of Cloud's memory scene on Final Fantasy Seven. Finding Gobi the Camel in Hailfire Peaks in Banjo Tooie and then realizing that the joke had been on me for two years. The conclusion of the Anju/Kafei sidequest on Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. Finding a Shiny Lugia on Pokemon Silver. Using the Shrykull for the first time in Abe's Oddysee. |
Turning off "Skate or Die" for the Commodore 64.

Im pretty sure seeing Aeris being murdered gave me the strongest erection in my life.

The time I so close in unlocking Dr. Boskonovitch in Tekken 3 that I almost flung myself downstairs in frustration?
The time I was playing the ‘Stain Removal’ challenge on TimeSplitters 2 when I went down to dinner only for my mum to tell me she wanted to divorce my dad, and I ran up to my room and cried and she came up and I kept thinking ‘How the fuck can I go back to playing this?’ I think that’s it. |
I suppose mine would be pretty recent. In Banjo Kazooie: Nuts 'N' Bolts, there is a challenge where you are riding in a u.f.o., and are attempting to shoot a shit load of balloons, while travelling very fast. The weapon that you use is not very accurate, and it's somewhat difficult to control.
I spent six straight hours doing nothing but repeating this challenge over and over again, until I finally got both the jiggy and the trophy. The relief when it finally happened was unbelievable. |
When I killed my first Colossus in Shadow Of The Colossus.
Damn that was awesome. That and the first boss in Killer7, that was amazingly freaky |
I refused to buy Ninja Gaiden 2, until I completed the Black version on the original Xbox first, on Master Ninja mode.
Since 2007, I did just that last month. |
The fire pit escape bit from Portal. The theme tune kicked in, and I just thought: GLaDOS, you are insane. But then, I remember everything apart from important stuff.

Cutting the hearts of the giant worm in GoW2 was pretty awesome
The end of the milkman conspiracy also left me great memories The final boss battle in rayman 2, which seemed incredibly difficult for the gamer I was back then |
All of Shadow of the Colossus
Despite the letdown, starting Spore. I was so excited for that shit. Oh god. Pyramid head. Oh god. The Telvanni towers in Morrowind, specifically Sadrith Mora. Also, chatting with Vivec and Dagoth Ur. Figuring out how to do anything in Dwarf Fortress. (It's an ASCII game I highly recommend, but it's fucking hard as an elephant's cock without the wiki.) The drugged sequence in the Fallout 3 DLC Point Lookout was fucking devastating. Growing an extra toe and then having it removed in Fallout 2. Fucking Forest and Water temples in Ocarina of Time. Having to wear those fucking boots in Banjo and Kazooie so the acid swamp water shit didn't dissolve you. That, of all things, sticks in my mind the most. Bioshock, of course. System Shock 2, of course. |
I've heard BioShock is very similar to System Shock, but I've never played the latter.
|
Moar liek Bioshock is similar to System Shock. The latter is also pants-shittingly terrifying. There am a demo in Gamespot. Loaddown it.
|
Is it on Stream?

Etrian Odyssey. The most hardcore game ever, I returned it.
I never returned games. Not only do you have to navigate dangerous dungeons, battle tough enemies, and find your way back, but you actually had to draw your own map. And then there was the FOE. FOE. Do you know what this is? You don't need to. There's a video. |
Team Fortress 2, Dust Bowl. We're on attack and bulldoze through their defense in SECONDS. On defense, they don't, capture a single point. Attack again, we Steam roll to stage 3 and....spend the next 17 mionutes attempting to cap the final point.
I don't forget it because not a single one of the fuckers on my team had a mic except me. |
Speaking of TF2, I remember the time most of my team was engineers and we somehow managed to build turrets in front of both the enemies spawn points. Good times.
|
Also on TF2, I was a Pyro on Badlands, and as I sped round the corner towards the BLU base, I noticed a cluster of sticky bombs beneath my feet. As they were detonated, I found I had not only survived, but was hurtling towards their Sniper deck, where I promptly torched the lot.

you've come to the one place on the fucking internet where every single cunt on here loves the game |
Hearing the haunting screams of Darwinians as they burned in Darwinia.
|
Destroy All Humans: Rise of the Furon, using the Heat Seaking Anal probe.
You read that right. |

The ending of Mass Effect was pretty epic. |
No, this is the third. I haven't seen anything bad about the 3rd.
