The Sims 1 doesn't work on Vista
Ok,so my Sister buyed The Sims Deluxe edition,we installed everything, turned it on and all we get is The Splash screen. Then,The Splash Screen dissapears, and we go back to Windows. I have Windows Vista, maybe it has something to do with that. Please help!

the game may be glitched, or your computer may not be able to play older games.
|
It's not "buyed". It's "bought". And this is in the wrong forum. And on the wrong messageboard. Someone here might be able to answer, but you're better off asking at an actual Sims based board or a Vista board or something. Or you could just use your own research and search the answer if you haven't done already. I'm sure there's already an answer to this question for a game that's so famous.
|
To my dismay I discovered that my E.T. Atari cartridge doesn't work on Windows 98. Oh, fuck it. I'm just going to make a new thread about it and see if anyone has any advice.
|
You might want to try and change the compatibility options to run it in Windows XP or an earlier version. If that doesn't work, look for a patch, or buy Sims 2.
You picked the wrong place to ask the question, seriously... |
Fuck the Sims 2 I bought doesn't even work properly on vista unless you download like twenty patches
|
Try this. It gives detailed instructions on how to do it.

Crap I had use tis picture twice in a week. Here is what comes up with a quick google: http://www.google.com/search?source=...earch&aq=f&oq= OANST, did you think anyone would actually belive that that link was about the sims. |
You'll probably have better luck on a tech/gaming forum, mate. Come now, you've been here long enough to know what kind of response you were going to get.
But anyway, try DOSBox. May or may not work, I don't know. I've never used Vista. |
Have you tried www.leekspin.com? It's a great tech site that has live chat for these sorts of questions.
|
thats a really good site Ghost. never seen it before.
|
Oh, tell me about it. It was very informative. It actually once helped me to strip down my computer and partition the drive so I could run more than one OS!

Great site by the way. |

thats pretty reasonable in the 'technical help' category.
i'd still use it though. |
Spiffing, but there were a few mistakes when it came to advice on sound cards, so those parts were quite unclear.
|
Indeed, but I personally thought the way how it presented the various tweaks for running old games on vista was written in understandable, non jargon english.
Which makes a nice change |
Yes. Props to them for doing that so well. So clear and simple, it's written so that any five year old can do it.
|
if i can read that and understand it, then any numbskull can.
thanks for bringing it to my attention Laser. |
No problem, my old bean :D
