Games Copyright - Keep yourself safe
 

To all oddworld game designers,

This is a note I thought i'de send to keep you from infringing in copyright, ok, I was looking up in the law books and on oddworld websites (law archives aswell) and I noticed this you must do the folowing:

1.) Write in your credits and intro that in no way is this endoresd by GT interactive, oddworld inhabitants and A.L.I.V.E

2.) You must write in opening and credits that this is merely a fan game

3.) You promise that you wont redistribute by selling this game for cash (doesnt have to be written just dont)

This should stop you from being sued which im sure theyd love to do with the current finanical crisis!

Thanks for the heads up, I think we already have those sort of precautions though on our fangame.

Nope we don't, I have even put "Powered by Oddworld Inhabitance" which I should of though of before really :\

Yes. Lorne is sat behind his desk that WE PAYED FOR plotting to sue a loving fan.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't give credit where it's due :p.

I'm changing it though, I'm following all rules set by them. It's the least I can do for them giving us a great game and working so hard on it.

You should be ok. Just don't sell it or say it's official.

I emailed OWI stating my game plan and they were fine with it and wished me luck, so yerh, its fine.

Wow, that's great that they actually emailed back. I wonder what they would think of my fanfics? :)
