How To Name An Oddworld Fanfic And Characters

Well I mostly joined OWF so I could post a fanfic I plan to do very soon but I've got a couple of issues. I know who the characters will be and whats going to happen but I haven't even given them names! I also don't know what to call the story and I want to avoid using odyssey or exodus in the name and I want a name more symbolic instead of -Insert Name Here's- story, odyssey, exodus, so on.

Next is character naming and what I've noticed for character species on Oddworld fanfic wise have certain styles for naming.

Such as, mudokons rarely have names more then three or four letters long. Sligs usually have names of appliances particularly deadly ones. Vykkers seem to have mostly humanoid names.

So can I get some suggestions for a decent name for a spiritual quest of sorts and character names following those guidelines above.

Abe? Alf? how are they not humaniod. As for sligs has one ever been officially named?

Anyway; When naming a charecter jus use your immagination. If your stuck just combine two names.

First, congratulations for taking the leap into fanfics. Making names is generally a hard part of story writing. You're guaranteed to get as much as you put in! In most fan-fiction here,

- Mudokons tend to have simple and short human names; Joe, Abe, Alf, Trevor, Ralph.
- Sligs are slightly trickier. Some people use normal names like Jobe and Arthur, other people tend to use a specific naming system. I tend to write names like; Nimol, Marek, Rook. Some of these are slightly based on real names, but others are just totally random in their creation. Most of my names seem to contain the letters N, O and K quite a lot.
- Vykkers tend to have longer names, most names seem to be human (or similar).
- Interns usually have reasonably short names like Neddid or Ian. There aren't many Intern fanfics around so you can be creative with this.
- Glukkons normally have tough sounding names. Most of these are non-human names.

Hope that helps. If in doubt, just use nicknames relating to character traits or take a real name and corrupt it. Example; Silver -> Silpher.

Oh yes, I also want to lay down that this is not my first fanfic just my first Oddworld story so hopefully you won't get a total illiterate mess :p

- Outlaws tend to have rough sounding names or obtain nicknames with reference to their greatest skill.
- Clakkers have normal names but sometimes have a jokey element to them.
- Other species may be named after body parts or bodily actions; eg. Munch (to munch)

Your one of the best Fanfic author here's, and I actually admire your skill because I could never do anything like what you can.

I have no need for this info, but I'm sure others will so +rep.

For future reference, questions like this would look better in the Writers Unite thread in NOA&L.
