Strike Witch 06-08-2009 09:25 PM

Shouldn't we just merge this with the first game's thread?

Anonyman! 06-08-2009 09:36 PM

We don't have that power.

BlackVenom 06-08-2009 09:43 PM

Now this is something I can't wait for! I loved the first one and only god knows how much I'm gonna love the 2nd one when I get my hands on it!

Havoc 06-09-2009 01:09 AM

I'm looking forward to this one. I like the idea that they are actually expanding the Left 4 Dead universe. I like looking at details in the various levels that tell a little bit of back story. Writing on the walls and old settlements where people tried to hold out. I kinda hope we'll learn a little more about the infection itself, how it happened and stuff like that. But that's just my story eager self :).

And of course... chainsaws. Can't wait to saw entire hordes of zombies to pieces. It's going to be like Gears of War, but x40!

Mac Sirloin 06-09-2009 12:52 PM

The Chainsaw is going to have a limited fuel. I'm calling it.

Havoc 06-09-2009 02:01 PM

I figured things like the chainsaw would become limited use (and rarely found) items that are like 30 second 'killing everything within a 2 feet radius' weapons. Kind of like the pipebombs in the original.

Pipebombs didn't kill tanks and you needed some maw-fuckin' TIMING to use them to their full extent.

Havoc 06-10-2009 05:12 AM

Does the chainsaw kill the Charger then? I haven't looked much into L4D 2 yet so I wouldn't know.

They haven't said anything about it other than "We know it's out of character. Trust us." Over the sequel.

I'd imagine it could certainly hurt him, but his main ability is to stun, right? (Oh by the way they said he stunned) So getting up close might not be a solid plan.

Anonyman! 06-10-2009 05:07 PM

Huh? New specials? Huh.

It looks like the Screamer/Shrieker or whatever is back in some form.

Anonyman! 06-10-2009 07:18 PM

The proto-boomer? Sounds cool enough.

OANST 06-11-2009 10:16 AM

I'm buying it. If only to have new environments to play murder-tag with Kastere.

Nemo 06-11-2009 12:10 PM

I'm not looking forward to it, at all.

Fuzzle King 06-13-2009 08:46 AM

This looks pretty good. The frying pan looks particularly funny to use.
I know this one's going to have 5 campaigns, new guns and new special infected, which also sounds good.

If they have all of the previous campaigns, characters and survival mode at launch I will Never badmouth Valve for the TF2 360 update again.

Havoc 06-13-2009 01:14 PM

Why do you want previous content in a sequel game? And what was wrong with the TF2 360 update?

I'd like to playthrough the sunlit Versions of some of the levels, is all. It would just be a neat feature.

And Valve has been talking about updating the 360 version for at least a year now, and keep pushing it back for bullshit reasons. I figured it would be out by March and they haven't mentioned it in any of their updates in awhile.

Strike Witch 06-13-2009 04:11 PM

Thing is, Valve talked all the way through their developer commentary about how the darkness is such a big part of No Mercy, etc.

True, but the Forest Campaign and Dead Air would be fine with it.

Havoc 06-14-2009 07:16 AM

While I was playing the No Mercy rooftop level yesterday I was actually thinking about how the survivors are always on the move during the night, which doesn't make sense to me. Why, if you're stuck in the middle of a zobie infested city, would you only travel at night? :p

OANST 06-15-2009 07:08 AM

It's harder to be seen, maybe? I mean, they aren't vampires. They apparently have the ability to be out in the day.

Wings of Fire 06-15-2009 07:11 AM

Generally the zombie infestations always start at sunset and it's a case of surviving until sunrise. It's a symbolic thing. It was also lampshaded by Steven King in Cell who had monsters who slept during daylight, so a nomadic human society could exist in a sort of fashion by being nocturnal.
