Bob, the ideas you've suggested in your previous thread were exciting, but very ambitious. I don't think anyone here is up to a project of such scale. I would advise you to start smaller, learn to program yourself and come back to this in a few years when you know better what you're doing.
|
I agree. Most MMORPGs fail in the first year. Usually there is high interest at the start, but MMORPGs do not adapt well and so are normally ditched in favour of more short-term things.
Why not try a JRPG based on Oddworld? I think that would be much more exciting. |

Okay, but make that two sex scenes (one of which must be with a Slig). ;)
|
I'll do better than that, I'll have a button pressing sex minigame.
|
Add a vibrating gamepad/joystick/wii remote and we'll call it a day.
|
ok i'm scared...
|
Can't we just make blow up Shag-a-meeps instead?

Philistine.

Sligophile

off topic: i'm getting images in my head now, please stop
http://www.thegamecreators.com/ This site has software that you can use to create your game with little or no experince. The only problem is you might have to fork out alot of cash. |
I always recommend a free program, it's just not worth limiting yourself down to something which will probably be out of date in 2 years.
|
I'm trying to make something with gamemaker right now, but I can't open exe. files on my computer, which is what gamemaker downloads to, Iv'e took a couple tutorials of how to open exe. files, but I keep getting stuck on the final step :(
|
Either you have a really strict firewall or you just don't fully understand what an EXE file is. Basically if you can't open EXE files you're pretty much screwed for anything game-related on the internet that has been pre-compiled.
|
okay, I may try it on my windows computer, even though it takes forever with the internet.
I also know what is wrong now, I was trying to open them on a mac computer, also I think that you can open them somehow by typing in some sort of code inside of the computers terminal. |
I think you'll find Game Maker only works on Windows computers. I believe Yoyogames are working on a Macintosh version of it, but it's still in the beta testing stages so it's not available for public download.
There's probably a way to get windows applications (exe files) to run on Mac OSX (I'm running Linux and there's a workaround to use Windows programs), but Game Maker doesn't really seem to work very well with those solutions, so it's best to just run it straight from Windows. Anyway, good luck with it! |
Actually to start off with I may just work on programing something simple, I have an idea of what I will program..... I don't really have a name for it yet, but it will be kind of like the mario games, with different characters. by the way when I say kind of like the mario games I don't mean that my game has anything to do with mario, I'm just telling what the gameplay will be like ( jump, jump on people to kill them, pick up power ups, etc. )
