Favorite Celebrities?
Some of my favorites are the musician P!nk and the actor Jack Davenport. I've also recently enjoyed watching films with Clive Owen and Matt Damon.
Who are your favorite celebrities/musicians/actors and how do they relate to you? |
I really like Mandy Moore and Jason Statham. They are tops.
Mine is Jennifer Aniston because she's fucking beautiful.

They're all fuckers.
Not Jason Statham. I may have mentioned that he's tops.
Edit: Kastere, have you ever noticed that 90 percent of my posts hearken back to our late night Live conversations? You must have a profound affect on my psyche. |
99.99% of them are fuckers.

Also, Crank 2 was pretty much just a big ol' lump of stupid. I liked it, of course, but only because it knew how awful it would be if it didn't know that it knew that it was awful. |
Ahhhh, Crank 2. It is so the Empire Strikes Back of the equation.
Cat Stevens and Harrison Ford immediately spring to mind.
Those two are definitely not fuckers.
Ewan McGregor and Vin Diesel are quite cool individuals. Both have been in some really good Sci-Fi films. Some less well known actors I like are William Hurt (Who was in "Lost in Space" and is in the current series of Damages) and Željko Ivanek (Emile Danko in Heroes, Ray Fisk in Damages)
David Attenborough, Steven Hawking and Daniel Dennett come immediately to mind.
Does Steven Hawking actually count? I mean you'd think the scientist label supersedes the celebrity one.
Oh yes, let's turn this into a serious discussion. Let's.
Yes, let's. I can't stand "celebrities" that are in the public eye, because that usually means that they're complete imbeciles.

If indeed such a time actually existed and I am not simply seeing the past through rose-tinted contact lenses. |
And Mandy Moore isn't valuable to society? Get this shit straight.

Cat Stevens made quite a bit of beautiful music. I wouldn't call that being famous for being famous.
Mine are famous for their accomplishments, but I suppose they have reached a critical value of fame whereby enough people know about them for everyone else to hear about them. Even if Stephen Hawking enjoys a portion of Richard Dawkins' hate mail.

I take the term Celebrity to mean someone who is famous for something, whether they be actor, singer, dancer, musician, scientist, etc...

Scientists are always contradicting themselves.
I know you can blunder, or at least have a few theories, but to say that all of what you just said is bullshit is taking it too far.

That's the only thing seperating him from a priest. Cultural standards and norms, for some obscure reason, appeal to our innate sense of pride by telling us that changing our minds is wrong and that we should stick unquestionably to our assumptions to the end, regardless of evidence and experience.
People who follow these norms live in blissful blissful ignorance, the rest of us, the naturally born scientists, thinkers, artists and philosophers spend our evenings reading, puzzling and getting migraines. |
I'm not sure how you want me to interpret that, but just to be clear, I am not opposed to folk changing their minds. I agree that people must think properly, but I find it irritating how we read a whole book, think "how interesting", and then discover that what was interesting and plausible may in fact be utter tosh.
But, looking at what I have written in my last posts, I do appear to have been talking shit, and I'll be the first to admit that now. |
