Six degrees of separation

Ok, so I've heard/read from numerous sources that we humans, all over the world, are separated only by six social networks at most. Meaning, everyone is connected in some way or another.
For those who aren't familiar, you can read this(But I'm sure most have heard about it :))
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_degrees_of_separation

So I just thought it would be interesting if any of you could tell if you are connected to any interesting people in some ways... I thought it over a bit, and withing six degrees of social networks, I'm connected to both the prime minister of Denmark, queen of Denmark, Obama, Dallai lama, president bush and many more.

My dad's gf's mom met our prime minister when they were both still in school. The prime minister knows alot of important politicians around the world and has even met up with dalai llame before. All this is still withing 5 degrees of social networks, leaving millions of people connected to me still.
There are probably even other forms of connections that I don't even know of.
Having used facebook a bit also confirms this, as I found out that people I thought i knew seperately actually knew each other.

Personally I do not fully believe that we could possibly be connected to everyone within six degrees, but I do wonder.

So got any interesting input/connections to talk about? :)

Edit: Also if this has been discussed before, I do apologise.

My Literature tutor is good friends with Grant Morrison, from there I could easily get to any major world leader in less than four steps.

You will introduce us.

I remember watching part of this film with Will Smith in it. With the same name. Never paid much attention to it. Personally I think this is probably the case. I would be very surprised if we weren't all connected in some way.

Gay.

Logic defeats me.

However, my penis is often wet and enveloped. That has to count for something.

I really fucking loathe Tommy Tallarico. Please spit in his face for me.

Fuzzle Guy 04-10-2009 03:18 PM

This would work far better if everyone said at the end of each post "How many steps can you get to [Ted Danson] in?"

Munch's Master 04-10-2009 03:30 PM

Hrm.

Yes, but everyone knows everyone in Britain. It's like the American Deep South.

Anyway, I was geographically close to Steve Irwin's death throes.

He's incredibly fucking short. Last summer I was taller than Victor Lucas, and I've grown a lot. Spitting on him would miss by several acres.

I would certainly kick him. Or pack him into a ball and play basketball.

Nate 04-10-2009 05:59 PM

The standard for connections is quite low. The statistical theory of six degrees of seperation refers to social groups; thus people you know personally. Saying "X met Y once at a party" or "A interviewed B once fifteen years ago" really shouldn't count.

Daxter King 04-11-2009 04:08 PM

Thought this thread was gonna be about every Wiki article is six articles away from Hitler/The Holocaust. Disappointed.
