Masked Characters

It's funny how some people have a fascination with masked characters.
For example, not only do I like Sligs, but I also like the Yukes in the Final Fantasy series :D

What masked characters do you like and how do they compare?

Wings of Fire 04-08-2009 11:39 AM

Westley from The Princess Bride.
Zorro from The Mask of Zorro.
Kakashi and Zabuza from Naruto.
V from V for Vendetta.
Erik from The Phantom of the Opera.

Mystery is sexy.

Hobo 04-08-2009 01:26 PM

Rorschach?

Wings of Fire 04-08-2009 01:27 PM

Him too, add The Comedian in for good measure.

OANST 04-08-2009 01:44 PM

I like Spiderman. He shot web.

Mac Sirloin 04-08-2009 01:48 PM

HUNK from The Resident Evil games.

Anonyman! 04-08-2009 01:48 PM

It's not nearly as bad as TDK Joker Fandom, and Jackie Haley did a fucking bang-up job as Rorschach, whereas Ledger was good, but I like the old joker.

As in Nicholson? If so.........Moron.

As in Mark Hamill.

Or, if you're feeling kitschy, Caesar Romero. The only real 'Classic Joker' moment is 'Let's not blow things out of proportion. Otherwise bleh.

Mark Hamill does a great Joker. I agree.

JEH was fucking incredible, I'll give you that. Even /co/ doesn't hate him. Half of /co/ has even fallen in love with him, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

Char Aznable. This man is so cool yet goofy at the same time.

Pilot 04-08-2009 07:11 PM

Predator

From the Predator Movies (duh)

Mystery is sexy, as Joe says.

But not as sexy as Preddy

:D

HUNK from The Resident Evil games.

This. As well as Leatherface (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, 1974) and Jason (Friday the 13th). Leatherface is delightfully sinister. Jason is delightfully funny. I'd list Dr. Salvador along with Hunk (both from Resident Evil), but he isn't quite as great as Leatherface.

I should start wearing a mask. My family and friends may like that.

AlexFili 04-09-2009 12:33 AM

Wow, I totally forgot two more of my favorite masked characters. Zechs Marquis from Gundam Wing, and Tobi from Naruto Shippuden :D

Oddey 04-09-2009 01:40 AM

Michael Myers. (Halloween Original.)
Sligs.
Batman. (Batman Returns and Batman.)
The Grim Reaper (Not exactly masked, but the hood covers his face most of the time.)

:D

Zechs was such a Char clone. Hell, they even look alike.

AlexFili 04-09-2009 02:47 AM

No idea who char is, but I freaking loved Zechs at the time. He was uber-uber cool to me :D. Shame Gundam Wing started getting trippy by the end of it. Oh well, that's anime for you ;)

Komamura was another interesting masked character. Turns out he was a giant bear :D

Too bad that Farscape characters don't wear masks, amirite?

You're a freak, sir.

Half of The game /co/ doesn't even register with me. I skip every Rawshark thread now because it's always always always going to turn into something extremely gay.

You should see the Jimolio plotline for Resident Evil 4. I think you'd love it.

Not really, no. I find nothing attractive about any of the Farscape characters that I remember.

Yes really, yes. Wanna RP?

Farscape had a lot of cool characters, none i didn't like in fact but Pilot made the show for me; it wouldn't have been hardly as interesting without the mystique of Pilot there- always handling things behind the scenes. Pilot was almost what I'd call 'the spiritual one' he seemed to be in touch with things, very intuitive and very intellectual- yet very young and naive at times it would show. Always patient and selfless he was.

I also liked that 'Namtar' character; he was only in one episode in the first season- the scientist interested in fiddling with "Pilot" DNA. He was HOT!

Uhuh. Sure.

Pilot 04-09-2009 12:15 PM

You're very correct, I remembered that this morning... after I posted I got in the shower and it dawned on me, "Oh yeah, Namtar!" So I've been pining all day to get back and mention that. :D

Now I don't have to go back and edit my message because you've done all the footwork for me; though he doesn't really have a mask...... erm, yeah.

I wish I had as much free time as you.

Wanna RP?

OANST 04-09-2009 12:36 PM

It didn't take much time. I remembered you saying it when you first came back so I searched your posts from that period. Took about five minutes.

And no, I don't want to fucking rp.

Char was the original 70's Gundam show rival, pretty much the basis for Zechs, as well as Full Frontal from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, Zabine Chareux and 'Iron Mask' from Gundam F91, Chronicle Asher from Victory Gundam, Schwarz Brüder from G Gundam, Harry Ord and Corin Nander from ∀ Gundam, and Graham Aker from Gundam 00.

As to the show, it didn't get so trippy as much as the ideology got really heavy and every five seconds someone was talking about peace or war. I felt that the final battle seemed really stilted due to everyone tripping over their dialogue =/

I like masks. They're easy to relate to, particularly the Carmine brothers. My Fable characters tend to acquire highwayman masks at some point. I also like most Marvel characters with masks: Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom...

skillyaslig 04-10-2009 05:32 AM

Hmm, strange topic, yet fascinating!
A fave masked fellow of mine...Probably Rorschach from Watchmen. And V, from V for Vendetta.
One, because the splotches on his masked moved all the time, like weird little bugs.
Two, because he kills a fellow inmate in a bathroom, saying the causal "I need to go to the bathroom" to his super hero mates. How crazy is that? And in record time, I might add.
V, because he spoke a very long sentence or two, saying a V word every two words. awesome!
i just love crazy masked men.
