is not a man entitled to the sweat on his brow?

would you kindly share your opinion?

Wings of Fire 03-19-2009 08:37 PM

Please elaborate?

Bullet Magnet 03-19-2009 08:45 PM

Oh no. We all know how this line of reasoning ends.

Wings of Fire 03-19-2009 08:56 PM

Ah right, sweat of his brow mate, otherwise it has completely different connotations.

And it still belongs to him.

Disgruntled Intern 03-19-2009 09:12 PM

"Oooh! I just played BioShock! Ooooh!, I just read the first chapter of Atlas Shrugged! I better make a poll to show just how clever I, and the video game I love, really are!"

I mean, come on. Really?

What is the greatest lie ever created?

What is the most vicious obscenity ever perpetrated on mankind?
Slavery?
The Holocaust?
Dictatorship?
NO! It's the tool with which all wickedness is built.
Altruism.

Whenever anyone wants others to do their work, they call upon their altruism.
"Never mind your own needs," they say, "think of the needs of..."
Of...
...whoever.
Of the state.
Of the poor.
Of the army.
Of the king.
Of god.
The list goes on and on.
How many catastrophes were launched with the words "think of yourself"?
It's the "king and country" crowd who light the torch of destruction.
It is this great inversion, this ancient lie, which has chained humanity to an endless cycle of guilt and failure.

My journey to Rapture was my second exodus.
In 1919 I fled a country that had traded in despotism for insanity.
The Marxist Revolution simply traded one lie for another.
Instead of one man, the Tsar, owning the work of all the people, ALL the people owned the work of all of the people.
And so, I came to America, where a man could own his own work...
...where a man could benefit from the brilliance of his own mind, the strength of his own muscles, the MIGHT of his own will.

I had THOUGHT I had left the parasites of Moscow behind me.
I had THOUGHT I had left the Marxist altruists to their collective farms and their five-year plans.
But, as the German fools threw themselves on Hitler's sword for the good of the Reich, the Americans drank deeper and deeper of the bolshevik poison, spoon-fed to them by Roosevelt and his New Dealers.
And so, I asked myself, in what country was there a place for men like me?
Men who refused to say yes to the parasites and the doubters.
Men who believed that work was sacred and property rights inviolate.
And then one day the happy answer came to me, my friends: there was NO country for people like me.

And THAT was the moment I decided... to build one.

Sweet Christ do I love The writing in Bioshock.

Havoc 03-20-2009 03:37 AM

Not only did you post this in the wrong fucking forum, you're also about a year+ late. Congrats, you fail.

Nate 03-20-2009 04:20 AM

On the plus side, everyone has been talking about Bioshock for so long that I finally went to Steam and purchased it. Downloading as we speak.

That said, I'm still a little confused about this thread. Are we talking about the game (in which case it should be moved) or are we talking about political philosophy (in which case it can stay where it is)?

mitsur 03-20-2009 05:29 AM

Goddamnit it BM. I keep telling myself I have to stop with the rep, but you keep posting.

And Nate, I think you will be pleasently suprised with Bioshock.

But in this thread, I think it's supposed to be political, but everyone saw through Oko in .820123432 seconds.

Completely related to BioShock, you'll see when you start playing.

Anonyman! 03-20-2009 09:15 AM

I think he should stop being so fucking possessive of his sweat. Seriously, that's retarded.

OANST 03-20-2009 09:25 AM

You people are mean.

Like, what would god want with the sweat coming from someone's brow? Like, disgusting.

Strike Witch 03-20-2009 02:40 PM

Communists.

They want your sweat.

shaman 03-20-2009 02:42 PM

Um... not sure what this is, needs to be expanded more i think.

But if you mean your question literallly: Yes, the sweat on my brow is fucking MINE.

AlexFili 03-20-2009 02:43 PM

"Ask yourself, what would a free man do?"

Havoc 03-20-2009 04:41 PM

A free man would take your sweat, take it inside a test chamber, fuck it up somehow and unleash hell upon earth.

Strike Witch 03-20-2009 06:43 PM

Is not a man entitled to the breat on his swow?

mitsur 03-20-2009 06:54 PM

Is not a man entitled to the breasts of his cow?

Agreed, as my mother used to say back in the old country,

YOU LOSE, BITCH

Strike Witch 03-20-2009 08:00 PM

Is not a man entitled to a C-C-COMBO BREAKER.

Damnit Kastere.

Pilot 03-20-2009 08:57 PM

What is a C-C-Combo Breaker anyway?

Fortesque13 03-21-2009 12:05 AM

Are you blind? A combo breaker is a person who breaks combos... Therefore, I deem Kastere unworthy of possessing his brow sweat.

Slog Bait 03-21-2009 10:40 AM

Every Christian and their mother knows that their brow sweat belongs to god. For this, I am thankful I'm not.

It's my sweat, bitch.

OANST 03-21-2009 11:16 AM

My sweat belongs to the ladies.

mitsur 03-21-2009 12:57 PM

My sweat belongs to the brim of my hat.
