Oddworld Adventures: Mysteries

Alrighty then.

After delving into the world of Gameboy Oddworld, I found something very interesting...

I've attached boxshots of the box for Oddworld Adventures, and I found this on the back, and I quote:
"14 peril-filled environments plus some secret ones if you can find them."

I've played the game and there are 14 levels, but I have yet to find these mysterious SECRET levels. I'm asking anyone who owns this game if they know about these secret areas, how to find them, or even if they exist.

I looked this up and am curious now.

Have a look at this, though http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/gam...le/574681/5797

I'm currently ripping some sprites for my oddworld platform game.
Before you panic, it'll be about Sligs, so there will be no jumping and no rolling :p

When I played Oddworld Adventures I never found any secret levels.
To be honest I doubt if they exist at all.

I was quite surprised that OA2 actually had flying sligs!

What has your game got to do with secret levels in Oddworld Adventures?

AlexFili 03-15-2009 07:42 AM

Sorry. I got sidetracked. Were there any secrets in MO at all by the way?

Still off topic I'm afraid...

Can't help you with those secret levels, but I suspect they are simply referring to some hidden zone in the game like there was in AO and AE.

Yeah...

I have made some progress in finding some secrets in this game, though.
I found a secret password that takes you to the point half-way through the intro level. I only found in by mucking around on the password screen and entering random letters. You never get this password at any point in the game, so I found it by pure chance. Here's the password: D C B C R

Back on the topic of the SECRET AREAS, I haven't had any luck finding them. Not even when you beat the game without dying once. All you get is a message that says:
"GREAT JOB! YOU ARE PERFECT!" (which in relation to me is a lie).
Surely there is also a secret password for these ridiculously well hidden levels.
I mean, the game may be on GameBoy Original, but it just feels too short. What about flipping Scrabania?

I'll look further into this mystery. I am curious to know if anyone knows how to hack the game to find the secret levels or their respective passwords.

EDIT: I suspected that since Paramonian Temple was in Oddworld Adventures, then the secret passages from Abe's Oddysee would be in the same places... nope.
Also, does anyone else find it weird that only one other Mudokon (excluding BigFace) other than Abe appears in Oddworld Adventures?

Phylum 03-19-2009 12:22 AM

That password thing is strange, I'd like to try them all, but that could take literally hours!
There are only 3 muds in OA because there are no secret muds to save. If AO had no secrets it would be the same.

Wow, kinda makes the whole GameSpeak system pointless when there is only like one or two people to talk to. I hated that stupid whistling system in AO. For some reason the SligLocks in AE are absolutely fine.

I think with the exception of missing out Scrabania, most of the levels are straight ports from the pc version. I guess the biggest part missed is that it skips the first Rupture Farms level and stockyards, so no secrets to be gained there.

Phylum, you've made a very good point.

Trying every single letter combination could take hours, but I searched through the entire game and have had no luck finding any secrets. I may be forced to check every password possible to find these secrets.

However, if anyone knows how to find these secret levels and would like to save me the trouble of checking all password combinations, please post.

EDIT: Yep, absolutely correct. There are only 3 Mudokons in Oddworld Adventures: Abe, a Native Mudokon, and Big Face.
