When Religion is just PLAIN STUPID

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7926694.stm

These type of things is what makes me hate religion so damn much. I mean, I understand the whole "Give and be nice and tolerant" crap, even if the hypocrites don't abide it, but you have to be fucking KIDDING me.

Trying to prevent a nine-year-old from having an abortion when she has twins from a step-father who REPEATEDLY raped and abused her is such a degree of stupidity I cannot understand. After all, only "GOD" can dictate who lives, and who dies.
Yeah, bet that old coot would of really encouraged that man to rape a little girl.
Morons.

Faith in Humanity -10000 points.

The religions started out each at in their infancy and at their core as basic and decent principles to live by.

Then the extra crap got added on by religious "leaders" for no reason but to empower themselves.

Live by the golden rule. Piece of cake. Lose the baggage. Use your brain.

With religions, what is true is not original, what is original is not true.

For a sect that pays lip service to modern science, Roman Catholicism sure is clueless about day to day events. I am reminded of the Crackergate debacle. And of the HIV pandemic, which they continue to exacerbate.

*fights urge to edit Havoc's post to replace 'Religion' with 'Havoc'*

I really am too nice.

I saw a really shocking program on the BBC not that long ago about this weird kind of cult religion which demonstrated really horrible anti-gay views. They even got their kids to walk around with slogans that they didn't even understand.

There is a fine line between worshippers and fanatics.
I really wish people could just draw the line with worshipping.

In my opinion religion hinders, not helps.

Munch's Master 03-06-2009 03:48 AM

How horrifically stupid. This is the reason that, while I do have certain religious beliefs, I will never ever even consider practising or going near to organised religion.

The idiotic zeal of religious practitioners/leaders is quite frankly scary at times.

Normally, I just shrug and move on when the religious act foolishly. However, this is the sort of situation that would see me picking them up by the scruff of their neck and wacking them against a wall. I'm not coming into this thread again. 'Cause it makes me angry.

ITT: We fail to tell the difference between Fundie Christians and other Christians

In this news topic, the "I'm right because God says so, shut up" attitude continues to one of it's logical conclusions.

These are main stream folks of the largest domination of the largest religion. Differentiating them here would give the fundies a break. Though it's difficult to tell the difference.
