300 mudokons saved on Exoddus

I only managed to save about 284 or so.
Can you tell me all of the secret locations which DO NOT have soulstorm bottles nearby? Thanks.

Chubfish 02-22-2009 09:17 AM

There is only one I can think of. On the first screen of the game, there is debris that Abe can stand behind. If you duck here you can find alot of mudokons.

AlexFili 02-22-2009 09:21 AM

Maybe that's the one I missed. There was definately another one in the later stage of the game that had no bottles. There was a broken well, and a shryhull powerup.

Splat 02-22-2009 09:49 AM

That wasn't a secret area; that was an area necessary to completing the game.

The one Chubfish mentioned is the only one and it contains about 15 mudokons (yikes!)
Other than that, remember to go back and save any mudokons you have to pass by while solving puzzles (thats the mistake that kept me from finishing with all 300 your a couple of years).

AlexFili 02-22-2009 10:43 AM

That might actually have been the one that I missed. I'll try and look at the number of mudokons per section, and keep a running tally.

The one SuperMunch

I'm not SuperMunch, I'm Chubfish. Quit dreaming!

No, it’s not. You can easily walk through the door back to the hub without even realizing you’ve missed a Zulag. You are just left to wonder why you were given Shrykull power for no reason.

Splat 02-22-2009 03:02 PM

Well I was stuck in Mudomo for two years. I spent a lot of time watching the demo videos and happened to notice that drop long before I reached the area, so I never noticed that.

Bullet Magnet 02-22-2009 10:29 PM

Two years? Wow. I mean, its all right to visit, but damn.

AlexFili 02-23-2009 08:32 AM

I find AO a lot harder now than when I first played it. I really hate those bats. AE is much more forgiving!

Oh god, that's what i've been doing for the past 7 years!

AlexFili 02-24-2009 06:22 AM

It's funny how if you do the scrab section first in Oddysee, it messes up the FMVs :D

shaman 02-24-2009 07:03 AM

i managed about 280, 290.

i can't really remember but i know theres a secret area at the start of necrum.

Crashpunk 03-09-2009 09:34 AM

i saved about 210 or something

OddjobAbe 03-09-2009 01:16 PM

I really dread the end of the game. Every time up to now, I've finished with four Mudokons remaining. Those same bastards escaped me again (or should I say trapped themselved in a life of hard labour?).

Wil 03-09-2009 01:49 PM

Yes, slaves cause themselves to do labour.

OddjobAbe 03-09-2009 01:50 PM

I suppose trying to divert the blame from myself doesn't help, does it?

Wil 03-09-2009 01:58 PM

You can’t expect them to keep their eyes open for telltale discarded SoulStorm Brew bottles.

AlexFili 03-12-2009 04:33 AM

Unfortunately, there are some hidden sections which are not indicated by the SoulStorm bottles.

I recommend going through the Abe's Exoddus FAQ on the www.gamefaqs.com website.
It keeps a running tally of all the mudokons you should have saved.

Try and save once for every region you have been through, and make sure you keep an eye out for secret areas. Most of them are quite easy to find in AE, compared to AO.

The most you'll probably miss are in Necrum Mines. There are a couple found by going down to the next level (although it appears to be a death pit), or rolling through a hidden area.

Make sure you get every mudokon in the area to work on any of those circular valves before sending them through the bird portals as well. Especially in the Blind Mudokon area of Necrum Mines.

OddjobAbe 03-12-2009 02:15 PM

I appreciate the advice, but I always free everyone in the mines. Thank you for your enthusiasm, but I'll find my own way. After all, it's only a game.

AlexFili 03-13-2009 04:09 AM

Just saved 192 mudokons so far, I just completed the Boneworkz section.

marlz 03-14-2009 08:54 PM

Yeah. I think Chubfish is right, but if that is the area you missed remember, there are 2 lots of Mudokons and unless you can get the first three to safety, you can't rescue the rest in that area.

Although, the one with the Shrykull and the broken well in Zulag 13 is also a possibility. You have to open the exit and then go back to the well with the blue soul ring (that's what it's called). By opening the exit, you activate the well.

I'll try and upload some screenshots soon.

P.S. I actually managed to find and save all 300 so if anyone needs help, ask me.

AlexFili 03-16-2009 09:58 AM

There are a few little hidden places, some of them dont have bottles and some hidden areas lead on to other hidden areas (such as the blind mudokon one in necrum).

It took you 7 years to reach that well? Seriously, it wasn't even hidden!

I did it! All 300 mudokons saved! Wooties!

marlz 03-17-2009 11:53 PM

Good job.

I got those screenshots! I know you don't need them now, AlexFili, but I'll put them up just in case other people find them useful.

AlexFili 03-18-2009 03:33 AM

Yes that's them. I think there are at least two or three other places which might cause problems, but basically, it helps to keep a running tally of how many you've saved at each part. Thanks again.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to finish AO 100%, that save system really irritates me.

marlz 03-18-2009 04:38 PM

It's tough, but possible. Keep trying and you will succeed.

Tips for finding all Mudokons in Abe's Oddysee:
- Listen for noises caused by things that aren't in the screen, such as Slig snores, Slig walking noises, and meat saws.
- Look for debris falling. If you see falling debris, there may be a secret passage there.
- Check the shadows for Mudokons, shadows, and doors.
- Holes may lead to secrets. Test by dropping Sligs down there and seeing if they die.
- Foreground objects also cover secret passages.
- Both temples have secret passages.
- Backtracking can prove useful later on.

If you do decide to attempt 100& on AO, good luck.

Mod edit: there is to be no suggesting of illegal activity, thank you.
