Official Oddworld group on Steam?
I searched and found some fan groups but I don't believe any of them are official Oddworld, is there going to be one?
Thanks, ribeye |
Wrong forum. Should be in General Oddworld Discussion, which is at the top of the boards. This is Oddworld RPG and is right at the bottom, so it's a rather perplexing mistake.

I'm not quite sure what you are talking about, I really think this is the best place around to talk about oddworld with other fans...

This is the best place as far as i'm aware.
That remids me, oddworld.com has been "coming soon" for far to long. |
oh yeah, sorry about posting this in the RPG section originally, I had like 4 tabs open for different areas of oddworld.com including the RPG section at that moment, and I was kinda drunk
I've had oddworld.com set as my homepage for at least a couple years so I'll know when they finally add something. I'm talking about Steam groups, players can create their own groups as well as companies, I was just wondering when they're gonna get it together and make an official Oddworld group |
Some OWI employees used to come over here and post sometimes, if they don't have time any more to post over here I don't see why they would post somewhere else.

I think he means that it might be nice to have a way to collect all of the Oddworld fans on steam together in one group. Just like we have a group on facebook for the forums, even though it serves little purpose.

A Steam group is not a forum where people can post although it does come with a chat room for that group and provides a place for Oddworld fans to congregate while on Steam
My point is, Oddworld recently made AO & AE available on Steam and Steam has a massive 15,000,000+ user base that no other digital distribution platform can compete with at this point. Anyone that looks at my profile or anyone in my friends list will see that I am a member of the official Oddworld group (if there was one that is) LL said in a recent interview "Valve is doing it right", it seems to me that he likes Valve and he likes Steam, and creating an official Oddworld group would be free for, well, for Oddworld. If I had to guess, I'd say that Wage Wars and the other mystery Hollywood game thing they're working on will also be made available on Steam upon release as well as the next installment in the Oddworld universe. They seem to be getting on the Steam bandwagon already anyway, why not make an official group while they're at it? Anyway, I am a long-time Oddfan and I just thought it couldn't hurt to get the Oddworld name out there in front of that many eyeballs free marketing = a good thing BTW - why is the word Oddworld not excluded from the spell-checker on the Oddworld forums.... |
Another thought that just crossed my brain is, what if Oddworld could arrange it with Valve to have the announcement of the official Oddworld group to come up in the Steam Update News?
I saw an update recently that had to do with a few mods that Valve thinks are worthy for everyone to check out and they posted links to download them in the Steam Update News window that pops up, I can only imagine the impact that announcement had for those developers. When 15 million people fired up Steam that day, I wonder if their servers could even handle the amount of traffic and downloads they got Anyway, just a thought :D |
