CHOOSE MY PET
 

I'm interested in getting a pet soon, just something for when I'm on my own, and thought I'd do my research now.

My Preferences: Has to be a dog or cat because I'm a traditionalist, small dogs like Shih Tzus and most "Show dogs" (I have no idea what I'm talking about) are not to my preference and Poodles are a no-no because much as they're intelligent dogs, I've heard reports they can be a bit vicious and frankly it would shred what's left of my dignity to get one. Terriers of just about any kind are fine, but I'd prefer something that's small-medium sized, with shorter hair (seriously I can't even care for my own scalp what chance would a Komondor have?).

My goal is to get an English Bulldog. I'll try to adopt whatever I conclude to like, but if it comes to it I'll go to a breeder (NOT A PUPPY FARM).

As for Cats? One Simple rule: None of that flat-faced crap. I'm all for a Pug, but I'm not fond of cats like that. Something that is not in any way like a Siamese (whiny) would be great. I'm looking for something medium sized but I'd be willing to get a Maine Coon just to say "Why yes, my cat can open the door for me, what now, ♥♥♥♥♥?"

Kitties are awesome and I hate dogs.

teeny little kittens are great cuz they're the meekest, friendliest little buggers around. plus, they'll grow up to love you.

I've always thought the opposite. Dogs grow up to love you. Cats grow up to find you convenient.

But kittens are awful cute.

Siamese cats are the only cats worth getting, because you have dominion over their pattern scheme (if you happen to be me).

As for dogs, damn, so long as you stay alpha male and resist any attempts to challenge you, they'll be the only source of genuinely unconditional love. Breed is only a matter of what size animal you can cope with and care for, and in some cases a matter of behaviour. Mongrels, however, will most likely have the best temperament and boast the strongest immune system.

Get an iguana.

I read that as "get one as adorable as my girlfriend". After rereading I was less amused.

You should get a whippet, they're awesome and fast and curl up when they sleep. You could also name it "Scout".

Oh yeah and they also have short hair and are of a medium size. A bit like a small greyhound but much cooler.

Edit: The dog in WoF's picture (the one right in the top left hand corner, the kinda white one) looks alot like my whippet. A huge amount like it, it even has the same collar.

If your looking for a stupid but loyal dog I'd recomend a kelpie.

Great Danes are awful biggish. Just in case you don't want a leviathan for a pet (on second thought, having a leviathan for a pet would be pretty sweet.)

I recomend a Welsh Corgi. Pembroke, specifically. I've had one for three years now and she's the most one of the most fantastic companions I've ever had.

As for cats, get a hairless one.

And shave your head. And use your pinky a lot. And wear a supervillian costume.

Chubfish put up a very strong PM argument over the last few days for the Whippet, and I'm definitely cpnsidering getting once since A) It's cheaper than an English bulldog and B) They're pretty sociable little cretins.


But a great Dane...man, NOBODY fucks with a great Dane.

I have had one of these beauties for the last eight years. They're lovely animals! :tard: Incredibly friendly animals unless you teach them otherwise and they groom themselves :D

3. Just about any kind of Lab or a Siberian Husky
4. Pit Bull (I'd adopt one)
5. German Shepherd or something similar

7. Turkish Akbash (cool name, or what?)
8. American Staffordshisle Terrier

I would say Dog. Cats, I find are selfish little beasts, they deliberately claw you when they sit on your lap.
