The Art of Oddworld Inhabitants (TFTY): Collector’s Folio Edition
If you have way too much money you can spend it on this more then awesome limited edition of the "The Art of Oddworld Inhabitants":
Limited to 100 copies this must be the ultimate version of the book and includes a specially-produced and numbered "Certificate of Authenticity" individually hand-signed by Oddworld Inhabitants founders Lorne Lanning and Sherry McKenna. http://www.ballisticpublishing.com/b.../folioedition/ Sadly the price for this book is even higher: 290$ Be sure to read the story over at CG Society http://features.cgsociety.org/story_...?story_id=4921 |
I bet signing all 100 certificates was fun.
|
I really can't afford that at the moment - especially with the AU$ to US$ conversion rate as it is :fuzsad:
Out of interest, what ever happened to the first ten editions of the previous print-run that were reserved? Alcar... |
They said they were going to auction them I think, but I have no idea what happened with it.
|
I thought they were reserved because they went to Lorne, Sherry, Mark and other VIPs.
Other than the display case, how is this different to the original limited edition version? :
|
:
I saw the picture and thought to myself 'I do want this', then I saw the price and thought 'I do not want this anymore'. I think I can make do without a Lorne Lanning signature and a fancy case for a book I already have and enjoy. |

EDIT: apparently it isn't the Folio Edition they planned when the book was originally released: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showpo...8&postcount=22 I mean, twice the size? that would be worth it's prize. |
I sent an email to Ballistic and got a response almost immediately from Helen Snoswell:

TTFY?
Too Tremendous For You? |

changed it |
wtf have u changed?
|
No wonder you're so popular AM.
This looks like an awesome thing to own. However, the price is rather high for, I suspect, most people on the forums, and if us hard core Oddworld fans can't afford it, I cannot really see your average Joe Bloggs spending that sort of money on it either. |
Either way, I think this would be considered something to own if you want bragging rights or if you don't want anyone of the opposite sex to go near you for the rest of your life. Either way I want it.
|
:
|
ooooooh, that's why you ordered one...
|
Well I was actually withholding that information, because I don’t want anyone to think I’m lording over their unwillingness to pay such a high price. I was just commenting on some heteronormativity I came across.

Unfortunately, there is no special discount for Australians (cheap postage aside). For everyone non-American, the price is calculated via: http://www.xe.com/ucc/
I can't afford it right now. But if I get offered a job this week and my favourite number is still available, I might go ahead. I never got a copy of the original LE. |
Damn, I just got through spending $300 [thanks to shitty $AU to $US conversion rate and hefty postage] on the official Cloverfield figure. And being in-between-jobs at the moment doesn't help much either. I'm really not sure if I can afford one, but I really want one badly. That and the number that matches my Limited Edition is available still, so it would be amazing to have a matching pair.
Damn, I so need to find some money from somewhere. :( Cloverfield... (Abe Babe) |
I would love the book, but unfortunately will never have the cash for it. Would be nice though if it had some extra art or something..

I will do when it gets here.
|
Woo! Got mine. It was delivered this morning while I was out of the house in a box about five times the size of the book itself. Now it’s safely stashed away where no one can see it. It may or may not be less hidden when I go home or move somewhere with better shelving. We’ll see what this does to my desirability.
|
I keep my original hardback copy in the box in came in, which has kept it very safe since I frequently travel with it. I just wish I could remember where I put that box...
You should shell out for an ornately sculpted Oddworld lectern. |
I would shell out for an ornately sculpted Oddworld church building if I had the cash, the land, and a bounty can for ease of transporting it about the place.
I’m tempted to get the paperback edition if I still can. My three current editions are all very special to me by way either of limitedness, was-a-gift-ness, or full-of-signatures-ness. |
I can see it now. Like the Natural History Museum, only the carvings of walls, ceilings and pillars have... deviated.
|
Wow, why does this have to happen when I'm poor? :( Makes me want to squeel like a little girl... o.o Even though I have my limited edition copy already.
|
I have a soft cover one already so what would be the point in buying another one for like 350 bucks Australian (fuck you economy) just beacuse it has a differnt cover and a stupid certificate.
I hope Lorne and Sherry are not trying to rip money of their fans. |
More like 450 Australian, Moxco.

Hey guys,
My name's Tim and I work for Ballistic. I see there is some consternation about the cost of the Folio Edition and the motives behind the release of it. The Folio edition was made to celebrate the Reprint run of the original version. Its intended to be uber-limited and is aimed at the most hardcore of fans and collectors. If the price seems too steep, bear in mind that there are thousands of new Hardback editions available, as well as several hundred of the original Limited Edition books, plus one or two of the original soft covers still available. So if the Folio edition is a bit rich, there's still plenty of other options for getting a hold of this fantastic book:) Cheers Disclaimer: To dispel the accusations, I'm not posting here as an employee on behalf of the company. I'm just a fan who happens to have a bit of inside info and thought I'd share :) |
