About Sligs, what do you like about them?

For me, I like their voices. I also like how they are totally dependant on technology and weaponry. In one sense it makes them weak (eg. crawling sligs) but in other cases, it makes them a lot more powerful than any other of the races (eg. a slig with a rifle vs mudokons / slog kennel spawns).

It's funny when they shout "HELP! HELP!" as well. The FMVs with Sligs are always the funniest ones as well.

I would love to see some other sides of the Sligs that have not been covered in the games so far, things like SligStorm and the fanfic Glory Slig.

I like their personalities and attitude. How much they're disillusioned I'm unsure, but certainly not as much as the Mudokons. They're part of the humour of Oddworld too.

As you said, seeing the other sides of them would be fascinating, as the current view we've seen has been totally one sided.

As Zerox explained, Sligs are a big part of humour in the Oddworld series. I'm not sure why I like their designs (Or the designs of other Oddworldians for that matter), they just look, act, and behave awesomely.

I believe the way they handle weaponry can be rather funny too.

Personally however, I like Outlaws and Wolvarks better. Sligs are fine and dandy, but I think talking redneck dinosaurs like the Wolvarks have proven to be a cooler representation of the American Worker.

They're adorably yet hideously cute.

Unfortunately as a PS2/Gamecube user I never got to play Stranger's Wrath, but it does look like an excellent game.

Makes you wonder how that SligStorm game would have worked out? Slig's can't jump, you'd have to rely on the rope elevators and the flying pants quite a bit. Although in that case you'd need to be able to remove your pants in order to crawl through narrow passages etc.

What's interesting about Oddworld, especially Oddysee is the one-hit-kill system. In Exoddus there are some exceptions like gas and fleech tongues, but it does make healthbars impractical.

A Wii version of Oddworld would be pretty interesting, let's keep our fingers crossed for some good stuff on the way!

i love sligs!!! they are complete boobs but you got to love them...not in an 'awww, come here boy' kind'a way (thats a slog) but in a 'HA i fookin love that fool!!' but i think the main thing i love is their voices :') so classic!!!

the M.O.M FMV's are the main reason I like sligs.

I lite the FMV Sligs,the fact that they are Squid-slugs made by Vykkers,and their voice.
And their bloodlust too!

They aren't made by Vykkers. That's their natural phenotype. Whether the wild type strain of slig looks/would look like that is another matter.

Neither. They're an infertile worker caste to an egg-factory of a slig queen, like ants or termites.

they look so cool with there masks and reds eyes. I love the sounds their Metal Pants make when there walking towards you, that always use to scare me. I love their attitude towords there work (sleeping on the job) :P there speech and there guns

The way how sligs act in regards to their attitude towards glukkons (the way that security slig speaks at first to Aslik is how I am meaning). The fact they seem to spend most of their time goofing off/snoring when meant to be on duty, and hey, even I am going to have to admit my liking for the newscaster slig :3 Best slig evar :P

I love Sligs muchly. My favorite is the Valet Slig simply because he seemed to seek more in life. I dunno, I'd certainly love to hug a slig if that were possible. I also am fascinated by their compound eyes. C:

I would assume male as they are drones, much like ants as you say. Or would they merely have a urethra somewhere in the groin area? Obviously the answer would be based on your examples but I know next to nothnig about ant and termite drones so...

I'm not sure how close you ever got to a slig. But if you look at a crawling slig, I can't see any 'thing', unless it is hidden like Crocs/Reptiles...

Either way, since they are drones they would be useless anyway.

Some animals have retractable penises, maybe it's like this with sligs. Or maybe it's like how telly tubbies don't have dicks cus they wanna keep the show G-rated.

I think that perhaps the most appropriate suggestion at this stage would be 'cloaca', especially given their amphibious nature. Serves the purpose of releasing waste whilst not having any particular sexual nature.

Worker caste infertility needn't mean there is a complete absence of reproductive organs. Eusocial mammals (the only two examples being the naked mole rat Heterocephalus glaber and Damaraland mole rat Cryptomys damarensis) feature "reproductive suppression," which means infertility is only temporary and one of the workers will replace the queen when the current one dies (the specific one being she who defeats the rest). I'm not suggesting that this could be the case for Oddworldian species, but I have always taken the view that it is probable that for such complex organisms as Glukkons/mudokons/sligs, reproductive organs in workers may simply be vestigial, not absent. Vestigial is not the same as functionless.

Only thing I ever really hated about sligs was the fact that in AO and AE, it was a one shot and you're dead type thing. I liked the flying sligs more because it was easier to dodge their grenades and a lot more fun to possess, seeing as they fly, and that's always a bonus. There's that, and the fact that their middle finger is more of a stub. I'm not sure why I don't like that, but it just always bothered me.

Otherwise, I like everything about a slig. I like the way they walk in their pants and crawl with their hands. They're structure, and even their voices (in every language).

I've heard a german mudokon/slig/glukkon on youtube but thats about it.
I actually like the one shot kill thing. It makes more sense in reality.
By the way, it actually takes three shots to kill you, the first two are usually glancing blows that dont do any damage.

Besides, outwitting sligs is so much fun! :D

The one shot kill thing makes alot of sense, it's just how annoying it gets trying to get past certain areas, and if a slig hears or sees you, you're screwed. Also, it is a one shot kill. Those other two shots are missed shots, because sligs have terrible aim. Once you get hit by a bullet that doesn't miss you die.

Also you seem to be invulnerable if you walk into the doorway or jump into a well :D
