So... Israel VS Gaza...

Since OANST started to threaten with deadly situations I thought I'd have to try something to get a bit of action going again. So I thought of a lot of controversial subjects which should bring us back to bashing each other's heads in over our opinions, but most things like religion, gayness and abortion had all been done to death.

So in an effort to do something new lets talk about the Gaza situation. I believe there are a lot of sides to this so there should spawn a decent flame far from this to keep us of the streets for a bit again.

Anyway my opinion is to just nuke the shit out of that entire area there and start over.

OANST 02-05-2009 01:52 PM

I'm under the impression that Hamas has things under control and that they are a class act. Case solved.

Nate 02-05-2009 03:44 PM

I have slightly altered my opinions from my blog post a month ago. I believe all sides (Israel, Hamas, world leaders, the media) are painfully stupid and should not be allowed out of the playpen.

Bullet Magnet 02-05-2009 05:14 PM

I have long agreed to what Nate now believes. It's turning into the Montagues and Capulets in there, and we are to be as sympathetic. Expect for the innocents who don't know what the fuck is going on and just want to live a peaceful life with their neighbours.

Mac Sirloin 02-05-2009 05:18 PM

MY dad is always going on about how the Zionists are out to get him. He screamed "HEY ICHMERE" out the window of the van in london at some Middle-eastern Taxi driver. After my sister and I's outrage he explained "I lived in Morocco for a year." Fucking close minded stupid annoying failure shit.

Strike Witch 02-06-2009 12:00 AM

How hot is your sister?

Anyway, I agree with Nate and BM, but I never noticed the Montague Capulet resemblance.

I realise my opniion may get me flamed but I feel the Israelis have gone too far. Yes, Hamas committed terror attacks which cannot be allowed to just go unretaliated, regardless of the fortunate lack of damage said attacks caused, however the Israel response was to kill over 1000 Palestinians, most of whom are innocents, as well as destroy supplies and so forth sent to the civillians. The fact they have not been reprimanded by the UN for this is a joke. While retaliation is neccessary, this is the equivalent of going and blowing up a guy's house, killing him and his family, because he broke your arm in a car accident.
I'm not saying Hamas are justified or anything, so don't misunderstand me. I'm saying that while Israel did have to respond, what they've done is far too much and has led to both accidental and deliberate death of Palestinian civillians, which is inexcusable.

OANST 02-06-2009 08:50 AM

Well......It's not quite as simple as that. The analogy about a guy breaking your arm is way off, I think. It's more like this: A man sneaks inside your house and slits your child's throat. The next day he goes on tv and brags about. Not only that but he tells you that tomorrow night he's coming back for your other kid. So you call the cops. But wait! This criminal is living in a neighborhood that not only knows the people who did it but will fight tooth and nail to keep the police from getting to them.

Short answer: Blow them the fuck up.

Wings of Fire 02-06-2009 08:55 AM

Long answer: We need better police.

Long answer: We need better police.

That too. Yeah.

But only after the carnage.

Bullet Magnet 02-06-2009 12:14 PM

It's a naive response. You know people on the other side will only see one side of it: a powerful military nation bombing civilians to shit. This can have no other result than to perpetuate the violence and hate exponentially.

I'm not saying that it's the "right" choice but you must admit that not retaliating would simply make Hamas more bold. I'm not an expert on the subject and those who are still haven't come up with a solution that works, though. I can't claim to know the right course but I think condemning Israel as "child killers" is a bit naive, as well.

Bullet Magnet 02-06-2009 12:45 PM

There is no solution available that works. The region is a twisted, impenetrable thicket of hate and malice that is choking the life out of the last refuge of hope and compassion.

shaman 02-06-2009 02:42 PM

Protests in a city center are fine, these people are demonstrating their right to free speech and voicing their opinions, locking yourself in private property is not fine.

shaman 02-06-2009 02:50 PM

But i cant understand what they want our govornment to do about it ... i mean i'm all for free speech. But what exactly are they trying to acheive?

This is like you stabbing someone, and me complaining about it in my school...(just an example of course)

i can still be annoyed by it.

Not true. Even Hamas acknowledged that 70-80% of the people killed were militants. Probably more, because they intentionally counted women and teenage members of Hamas seperately to skew the statistics.

They have. Repeatedly.

Most theories were that the goal of the offensive was to force Hamas to the bargaining table for a new ceasefire - remember that it was Hamas who first refused to renew the existing one. New ceasefire would include something about them not importing new weapons and having UN troops on the ground to stop rockets, similar to what happened in Lebanon. Then Israel ended up retreating before that happened, thus forcing me to change my opinion towards that which I've previously stated.

Fags are doing it to my uni too.

In response lets have a look what the Biology students did at the top floor of the opposite building.

Epic win much?

Mac Sirloin 02-11-2009 04:31 PM

Now, I like Humus as much as he next guy, but fighting over it won't solve anything.

Much as these stupid foreigners can't spell Gas right (WTF Gaza?) that's no reason we can't intervene.
