Games Freeze

Hi.

I just got both Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus. Both games installed fine on my laptop, but when I try to start the games, they freeze up. The intro movies work but once the screen with Abe comes up, the screen freezes and I just hear sound. I can select stuff and that all works, but the screen will stay the same. Is there anything I can do about this? A patch or fix or something? I have already tried changing the compatibility mode but then the games won't start up at all. I'm using Windows Vista.

What are your system specs? Particularly in question your operating system?

Crashpunk 02-14-2009 11:20 AM

are they brand new games?

Slog Bait 02-16-2009 10:53 PM

Did you try playing it with your laptop plugged in? Vista normally doesn't run games unless it's plugged in to an outlet or has an abnormally strong battery. I have Vista too, and I always have to plug it in or the screen will freeze up.

Automatically my brain when "well, the problem is probably Vista" but since other people in this thread are also using it without any hassles, it must be something else.

You might have to change the compatability mode to Windows 98. That works with a lot of PC games. My only other suggestion is to see if it works on other computers to make sure your copy isn't faulty.

That's about all I can do to help.

40 fucking degrees? where the hell do you live? Darwin?

Given that she posted that at the beginning of February, she could have been anywhere in Australia.

I thought he/she was a dude. Where I live didn't get anywhere near 40 this summer.

That's quite a parochial point of view, to only consider your immediate surrounds.

For your information, Melbourne hit 46 degrees this last summer.

Australian weather is really unusual. One day, in summer, it could be 28-40 degrees, and the next day it could be 12-18 degrees.

Ah, Australian weather. No matter how hard you try, you can't always predict it.:D

EDIT: That example I just used actually did happen about a month ago.

Brisbane (Where I live) I don't think even got to 36. But as someone else said Australian weather is quite random.

For some reason when I play AO and AE on my new pc, it takes a really long time to load the FMVs. I guess XP is eating up all my memory!

Wow, Jobo started this thread and left. Maybe he didn't like us hijacking his thread...
