Favourite Boss Battles?

I love the battle with the Phantom Train in Final Fantasy 6. Evil Toot is the best attack ever.

Another one is against that super-fast snake from Metroid Fusion. the music is grand and the monster is fun.

You guyze?

mitsur 01-24-2009 06:56 PM

Sephiroth in both Kingdom Hearts.

Fucker just won't die.

Wings of Fire 01-24-2009 07:49 PM

Final Fantasy 7: Jenova Life, Jenova Death, Schizo, Diamond Weapon, Hojo, Seraph Sephiroth.
Final Fantasy 8: Griever
Final Fantasy 6: Kefka
World of Warcraft: Heigan the Unclean, Thaddius, Shade of Aran, Al'ar, Illidan Stormrage
Kingdom Hearts: Second Riku, Ansem
Kingdom Hearts 2: Every member of Organization XIII
Sonic 2/and Knuckles: Death Egg
Sonic Adventures: Perfect Chaos
Sonic Adventures 2: Final Hazard
Tales of Symphonia: Origin
Metroid: Any and all incarnations of Ridley and Meta Ridley
Zelda OOT: Barricade, Volvagia,Twinrova, Ganon
Zelda MM: Lol all of them 8D
Zelda TW: Gohma, Ganon
Golden Sun: Satauros & Menardi
Golden Sun 2: The other couple I can't remember the name of right now.

I couldn't pick just a few :(.

Marvak 01-25-2009 12:10 AM

Diablo I: Final Boss, Diablo, duh. Scares the shit outta yer at 3:00 am.
LoZ: Ocarina of Time: IT'S A GIANT AQUATIC AMOEBA OMG
Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex: Lo-lo's Boss, the air/weather one. ("WHY IS HE NOT DYING?")
Crash Bandicoot: Twinsanity: The final boss, luv luv.

WoF, you have too many favourite bosses. Srsly.

Jordan 01-25-2009 02:41 AM

I'd have to agree with WoF, the Jenova battles are pretty awesome.
Also like Myria from Breath of Fire 3, she's a mean bitch, but kinda easy to beat with the right strategy.

Chubfish 01-25-2009 06:14 AM

I love fighting Seymour Omnis on Final Fantasy 10, just for the music, but my favourite boss of all time is the three headed fusion dragon thing from Golden Sun 2. Damn that ruin attack, takes off way too much health!

Hobo 01-25-2009 07:52 AM

Allow me to not mention an RPG and say Lou from GHIII. Man, Devil Went Down To Georgia wins.

Mac Sirloin 01-25-2009 02:57 PM

All of the bosses in BC: ReArmed so far.

Allow me to mention the first good RPG and say any of the Black Waltz bosses in FF9.

Or whatever the fuck they're called.

Also, anything from Psychonauts. ESPECIALLY Kochamera

Strike Witch 01-25-2009 04:32 PM

FF9
:tard:

Motherfucking Chaos and Mydia from Final Fantasy Revenant Wings. Both fun and annoying. Chaos is a retarded box-face-thing with spears that poke out, and him and all his guys are weak to water, rite? So I bring in a Water army. STILL get beaten up. But we finally kill him. BUT WAIT then Mydia the armoured chick shows up, summons about a hundred Bombs and dragon-things, and arserapes my guys.

But it's worth it for laughing at Chaos' attack animation.

Wings of Fire 01-25-2009 05:13 PM

On the subject of non mainstream FF games, how could I forget Garland?

Anonyman! 01-25-2009 06:14 PM

Dagoth Ur.
The entire game of Shadow of the Colossus.

Chubfish 01-26-2009 11:29 AM

I forgot Nitrus Brio from Crash Bandicoot 1, goddamn when i was a younger him throwing that weird exploding acid and then turning into the Hulk made me lose all the time.

OANST 01-26-2009 11:31 AM

Rock Monster from Mega Man 1. Impossible to beat without using the Elecman cheat.

mitsur 01-27-2009 08:56 AM

Dagoth Ur is simple and unfun if you kill all the other vampires and use their armor. Then it's just the basic 'I stand in your face and slash slash slash block slash'. I got pissed when all I got for beating the game was a ring that gave me 2 charisma.

Oh, and I'd say my favorite non-RPG boss would be Sigma at the end of Mega Man X. He's damn tough.

Revenant Wings

:tard:

Hollister, from GUN, especially since he's just a complete dipshit.

stonetooth 01-27-2009 05:11 PM

Pikmin One: Fight against Emperor Bulblaoux
Fable The Lost Chapters: Jack of Blades dragon form
Halo 2: That one dude with the mowhawk?
Mario: BOWSER!!! GRAR

Mario: BOWSER!!! GRAR

That narrows it down a bit....

I'd say Paper Mario 1 was probably my favourite incarnation of this fight.

Bullet Magnet 01-27-2009 05:15 PM

Sigh.

GLaDOS, you twits.

And whatever the second boss in Jumping Flash 2 was. I could never get past in in my youth, then I played it once again at my cousins, and got through five or six worlds in a single sitting. Jumping, ducking and diving in first person through bands of flaming death while unleashing little pixels at what can only be described as a retro Japanese robo-villain is an experience I'll take to the grave.

Nate 01-27-2009 05:29 PM

Nah, GlaDOS was too simple and repetitive for me. I didn't feel like it really challenged my skills like the preceding sections had.

It was funny in parts though.

Bullet Magnet 01-27-2009 05:31 PM

It wasn't an epic fight, it was an epic.

mitsur 01-27-2009 07:25 PM

The fight with GlaDOS was a bit lame since my laptop is such crap for graphics like portal. I topped out at about 10 fps, and that was when I looked at the ground. So you can imagine the agony of trying to line up a portal so a missile would hit her in the balls (wording intended). Although it was entertaining.

Oh, and Kastere, all fights in GUN are simple enough if you've got the double pistols and enough quickdraw. While it was a fun game, it was basically childs play once I had the Dual Peacemakers. Quickdraw, go nuts, take cover until QD is recharged, repeat. And maybe use a rifle or bow if I had a free shot while waiting for QD.

Bullet Magnet 01-27-2009 07:45 PM

Some of the bosses in the original Croc were damn impressive for one new to the concept of video gaming. The first one (some sort of goose) was single-handedly responsible for turning me to analogue control, without it I could not manoeuvre efficiently enough. The second on was some sort of wrestler ladybird, against whom I spent hours in a single battle, mastering every evasive move yet never beating him. It took a while before I realised I was supposed to megaslam on his stomach after knocking him over.

Quickdraw reloaded at a Snails pace for me, and the only time I bothered to keep my stats up was my first playthrough.

And the fight with Hollister is impossible with quickdraw. It barely scratches him. The first third of the game is the only time it's useful against bosses, then it switches and works on enemies right after you kill Hoodoo.

Just to add: The Behemoth boss from Kane and Lynch. It took me awhile to figure out how to get the right shot set up.

GOD yes. What about the underwater boss? I swore at that one for hours.

Bullet Magnet 01-27-2009 08:53 PM

I never finished it on account of Rayman entering my life.

Oh yeah, Rayman, fantastic bosses. The first time you fight Moskito, he cries over losing, is comforted by Rayman, and they become friends. In the next level, you're riding him.

Not sure why you have to fight him a second time, though, but most bosses made two appearances. Then there's the Mr Sax, Mr Stone, Sugar Mama, Scops the scorpion, the evil twin, Mr Dark's conglomerates... All classics.

squeak117 01-27-2009 09:06 PM

Halo: Combat Evolved, The Maw.

Technically not a boss fight, but damned if it isn't fun every single time.

Disgruntled Intern 01-28-2009 12:16 AM

I'm going to have to nominate every boss and sub-boss fight from Earthworm Jim 1&2.

squeak117 01-28-2009 01:52 AM

Oh, and how could I forget every single Colossus in 'Shadow of the Colossus'.

Alf Shall Rise 01-28-2009 07:22 AM

Every Legion boss fight in the Castlevania series.

OANST 01-28-2009 08:18 AM

Anyone going to say Sekto? No? That's because that fight was the worst part of the game.
