Pokémon rumours and other things OANST doesn't like

Remember when you were a wee lass and played the PSX or the SNES or the Jaguar(Alcar) with your mates, and they always told you about secrets and stuff that you could unlock by doing random things?

You know, Luigi in SM64. I spent weeks jumping at walls until I gave up.

All those bits of bullshit advice and stuff.

Not just applying to video games, Bluechu pokemon cards, etc.

My favourite was the one with the "How to get the ship" in Pokemon Ruby. A mate told my you could go to the Space Center and blast off to fight the Pokemon Creator on the moon. You just needed four moonstones and both Legendaries.

*sigh*

Leto 01-07-2009 09:10 PM

You'd get Mew/Togepi/Missingo (according to which friend you were talking to) if you beat the Elite Four 150 times.

I got to like 130. what a fucking loser.

Havoc 01-08-2009 03:14 PM

Ah good times good times. Back in the days where every single detail of a game wasn't explored and documented on the internet 2 days before it's release... or after for that matter.

But wasn't the mew thing a real unlock for pokemon? I even had stored around that would unlock it for you if you paid 10 bux (which did actually work because I saw people who had Mew).

I heard about SM64 thing too, different versions involving the princess or Luigi. I never found either but then again I never really tried.

Leto 01-08-2009 09:11 PM

It's true that you can get Mew, but only from special events. There's no special little cutscene if you beat the Elite Four 150 times where they bring you to a Mew that they give you. *

I have about 12 Mews on Pokemon Crystal though, got it at some comic convention and duplicated it many times.

*talking about Red/Blue btw

Jordan 01-08-2009 10:55 PM

The only way I heard how to get Mew is to get a Pokemon with Strength and Surf and surf around the S.S Anne then push the truck that was there. I remember getting really excited whenever I got to it. But no Mew appeared.

magic9mushroom 01-08-2009 11:17 PM

That happened to me when I first played AO. Soon however, noone could pull that on me due to me being more knowledgeable about it.

OANST 01-09-2009 10:45 AM

Could someone change the thread title to "Pokemon Rumors"? That way I'll know never to come back in here.

Edit: Title change made me laugh.

I spent ages trying to unlock Oxide in Crash Team Racing, and I tried furiously to drive the train in the original GTA. But I had the PSX version, and you can only drive the train on the PC version.

Daxter King 01-09-2009 07:24 PM

Someone told me that you could have sex with misty in Pokemon Yellow.

Phylum 01-09-2009 10:04 PM

I read that if you ran up the never ending stairway in SM64 long enough, there was a painting of Luigi. I gave up after 15 minuets though. I later read that there wasn't and felt stupid for running up them for 15 minuets, but, at least I didn't defeat the elite four 130 times :P

But at least leto gained something out of it :p Your 15 minutes were wasted.

OMG, I soo remember it, back in the 90's when everyone used to play it. :D
Yeah, you could actually get a mew, in blue version, I got one, google it, but it was a gliche, which involved battling random trainers, and then flying to certain locations, doing limited steps, and you'd encounter it.
That's the only way to get one apart from the special events.
I remember getting one aswell from someone who traded it, those to mews we duplicated so many times though for crystal :D

Now, all of the pokemon seem the same, and I'd rather play the originals any day.

But that truck near the ss. anne (Yes, I remember the name), and that random island, now that intrigued me, but 10 year olds are intrigued by everything.

Mac Sirloin 01-10-2009 04:59 AM

THAT FUCKING TRUCK

Laser 01-10-2009 10:34 AM

I was told that you got kill the first "nemesis" you meet in Pokemans Yellow using a fat person who was snoozing nearby :tarD:

mitsur 01-10-2009 01:08 PM

I still remember getting that 'glitch' pokemon on Blaine's island in red/blue. You'd do a couple of certain steps and fly there or something, and on the shoreline you'd encounter this pokemon who's picture looked like a big corrupted file or something and it's name would be like ihjg7324JI7DAS:32/'; or something. You could even catch it and it would switch abilities every time you brought it out. It was awesome.

Edit: Found it, it's called MISSINGO actually. What the fuck was I thinking.

Havoc 01-10-2009 05:01 PM

Lol I actually remember that, I came across it once. I thought Missingno was it's name XD. Glitch or bug didn't even come to mind, I was way to young for those things to mean anything.

Leto 01-10-2009 05:06 PM

Mistur you nub! How the couldn't you know it was called Missingo?! NUBNUBNUB

mudling 01-10-2009 07:19 PM

MissingNo. was my favourite pokemon, too bad it screwed up your game, hell, it appeared to be a person once, then morphed into a tree.

I always thought it looked like a totem pole. It freaked me out a bit.

Strike Witch 01-10-2009 09:50 PM

Freakiest was when it was a creepy rectangular smiling thing.

*shudder*

The truck bug is real, but only in certain versions of the japanese green version I believe. I don't remember there being a mew behind it though, instead the moment you went near the truck your game froze.

Jordan 01-11-2009 02:14 AM

I never dared to catch Missingno on my Red in fear of making it crash or ultimately screw up the game. But I ended up getting like an infinite number of Rare Candies and using them all on my team 'till they got to level 100.

moxco 01-11-2009 11:25 AM

I got a mew in yellow by doing a mew glitch. One day I'll get around to getting missingno. I also perfer the original games any time. Leafgreen and Firered are not that bad though.

Leto 01-11-2009 11:30 AM

Leaf Green and Fire Red suck. Ruby and Sapphire are the shit.

Strike Witch 01-11-2009 12:13 PM

I only ever play the ones where you can fucking RUN.

Seriously, first thing I do with an RPG is test walking and running speed.

It's called MissingNo. It says it RIGHT THERE.

Is this what idiots call Ownage?

Leto 01-11-2009 11:52 PM

LOL I really suck for leaving out a letter.

Strike Witch 01-11-2009 11:56 PM

Wild PROF. OAK appeared!!

ARE THAT POKEMON GAMES SO FUCKIN" HARD??!!!

Alcar 01-12-2009 02:55 AM

The sheer number of Stop 'N' Swop rumours for Banjo Kazooie is amazing - and they're still being pumped out 10 years after it's release.

Alcar...
