The Oddworld Forums Poster Awards are a fantastic legucy started by Wolfpac in 2003, and they've been run by him every year since. From recent ceremonies, though, it has appeared that this institution's founder is becoming less involved with the tradition. Solution: Nationalisation! With all the greatest respect and thanks to Wolfpac, the Awards are now being run by... me!

But to prove that my puppeteers are'nt even thinking about rigging everything entirely, before the voting begins they are going to humour you by taking your suggestions for new categories! Or categories that should be removed. Or categories that should be renamed.

So get suggesting! Remember: no voting yet, no suggesting who you would want to win each suggested category, no suggestions that are actually veiled insults (like "Least Appreciated Camwhore" or "Most Oblivious to Own Unpopularity", you cruel basterds), no running in the deep end, no diving in the lifeguard, and showering afterwards is mandatory! Come on boys, all together in the altogether!!

By which I mean, get cracking. I myself would like to see seperate categories for Oddworld and nonOddworld art/fix/etc. :fuzsmile::fuzsmile:

Not at all. We could just use the same categories as we have for the last five years. Who needs change when you have copy/paste?

Might I suggest that you post what the last set of awards were?

Could have a category for forum's prettiest/sexiest member. Or is that too creepy?

No, it's a category that comes last, and whoever wins the most awards throughtout the entire thing wins the Most Awards Award at the end.

Another forum I frequent hands out annual awards too. Without being too much of a copycat, here are some basic awards people can be nominated for;

Best Ban of the Year
Best New Member
Best Asshole Turned Awesome
Best Awesome Turned Asshole
Most Annoying Troll
Best Debater
Best Community Event
Worst Community Event

For each of those categories, I can only think of a single person that even qualifies.

And we haven't exactly had any community events here.

Apart from MSI and OddTour, and who knows what sorts of rituals they perform down in FC and RPG?

Surely that's implied for all of the categories?

Yes, something that should be made explicit from now on is that the votes should be given with respect to things that happenend in the preceding calendar year, i.e. these awards shouldn’t factor in anything that happen this January. But the year doesn’t need to be appended to each category’s name.

One existing category I would like to ponder is Best New Member. In the past, this title could only be given to a member who joined less than 6 months before. This limited potential winners to 50% of the members that join, since the awards were annual. I would like suggestions on how to fix this problem (or opinions on whether it should be fixed or not). Maybe it should be opened up to all members who joined in (for these awards) 2008?
