shaman 01-01-2009 11:52 AM

Doom. Is it possible to get a game better than that? It's an arcade shooter, but it's sitting in the comfort of your own home. Sure, things like Bioshock and Call of Duty are okay, but they don't have the replay value that Doom has.
All you kids out there who only play on 'in' consoles, try it:

OANST 01-02-2009 10:56 AM

Bioshock is okay? If you were right here....right now.....well, I couldn't be held responsible.

mitsur 01-02-2009 04:42 PM

Doom is a piece of shit game that is only popular now because of nostalgia.

By playing WoW you are basically selling your life to some computer geek called Michael Morhaime.

For me hooked on oblivion and fallout 3 :D

By getting pissed every night like 'normal' students do you are basically selling your life to some multinational alcohol firms, and you make nastier messes in the lavatory.

I know which 'life' I prefer:).

Jordan 01-03-2009 10:48 AM

A lot of people laugh at those who play WoW. I've never played it, so I have no right to make fun of anyone for playing it. But it's their choice, they control their life, and can play whatever they like.

Leto 01-03-2009 12:00 PM

That's such an 'understanding geek' thing to say.

Just treat them like the subhuman scum they are.

Jordan 01-03-2009 03:04 PM

Oh god... Yes it is.

Hazel-Rah 01-03-2009 08:08 PM

Sid Meier's Pirates :D

Leto 01-03-2009 08:22 PM

I always seem to call that Roman Polanski's Pirates by accident.

Havoc 01-03-2009 08:24 PM

Ewww WoW...

I still like the Battlefield games a lot and I'm working through Fallout 3 right now as well.

lbyrd2 01-03-2009 09:19 PM

I don't really use my PC for games any more.

Spores okay, and AE (especially with noclip on)

I agree. Doom has to be my favourite.

The two runner-ups are Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 and Age of Kings.

I have Doom on my 360. Duke Nukem kicks the shit out of it. Not to say Doom is bad or anything, but it's aged horribly.

Edit: Duke Nukem hasn't aged well either, but at least there's still the humor and titties. The closest Doom has to titties are Cacodemons. There's just no fucking comparison.

As for my favorite game? The Neverhood.

mitsur 01-16-2009 12:47 PM

Holy shit I loved the neverhood. That game was fucking weird that I instantly loved it, from the 'where the fuck is the end of this hall' to the 'holy shit did that pipe just spit water in my face for no fucking reason while making a farting noise?' and the always-popular dynamite-clone that you use to blow up the huge-ass monster.

Marvak 01-22-2009 10:34 PM

Hmmm... I'm currently hooked on Spore. Got both of it's expansion packs so far too.
And also Diablo II would have to be a runner-up. I <3 sending my undead minions to go out and kill moar undead minions. Demons too.
The only good thing I can say about World of Warcraft is the background storyline. That, and it's addictive in the sense that you just want to get up and make a sandwich but 'Oh I'll just kill this monster first, and this one too maybe, oh this quest doesn't seem too hard I'll do that too...' And so it goes on.
AUGH.

Havoc 01-23-2009 02:58 AM

I shifted to Left 4 Dead now, which is awsome. I've also picked up EVE-Online again, which is like WoW but actually takes effort (no, buying a new sword and clicking your mouse till your finger gets sore is not effort).

Oh wow, you're ignorant.

Bullet Magnet 01-23-2009 03:54 AM

Yeah, you need armour, too.

Lol.

Nah what I meant by that is that in comparison to WoW, EVE has a more serious undertone. For instance if you die in WoW you'll just respawn with your same lvl and spells or whatever. If you die in EVE you risk losing just about everything you ever bought or gained if you're being careless about it. So it takes more effort to check what you're doing, it takes more effort to hold on to everything you worked for. You can actually save up money for a fancy new spaceship, which can take you sometimes weeks or months before you can buy it. And if you're careless with that ship you can lose it the same day and you won't get your money back.

The EVE forums get spammed with people from WoW who come to try out EVE and then cry about how not absolutely everything is handed to them on a silver platter. It's quite hilarious.

And yes I have played WoW. I'm actually proud of the fact that it's in my Xfire profile with only a mere hour. It didn't fancy me at all. Seemed to me all you could do was fight with NPC's so you can level up and buy new equipment with the reward money and occasionally pick a fight with other players.

That's Runescape level death mechanics, I'd most certainly say that WOW is an improvement on that.

The last thing you'd find me doing is defend the majority of wow players.

WOW is very much a group orientated game, you can't realistically say you've played it until you've at least been to the first few dungeons, and then the endgame heroics and raids, they require a lot more than pressing a button over and over again. Playing solo is fun but is only about 10% of the game.

I'm not saying EvE is bad by any means, I haven't played it and I've heard mixed things about it, but you can't really compare them like that, especially when you've only been on WOW's version of newbie island, although trolling Barrens chat is always fucking hilarious.

fixed.

Also; both of those games are lame as shit.

Havoc 01-23-2009 08:35 AM

I know but it's so addicting :(

Which word? Addicting? Did you mean addicting? Is it addicting that you meant?

I'm addicted to typing addicting.

Bullet Magnet 01-23-2009 11:20 AM

Yes that one. It's a verb, but used as an adjective. It should be addictive.

Strike Witch 01-23-2009 11:27 AM

EVE is for people who are dickheads. Like that guy who helped set up a player-run bank and then made off with 80 thousand ingame bucks and was all "So long and thanks for all the fish!".
